Please , that answer didn't help. I don't have a resume button on the printer and pressing the Stop/Reset button didn't help, and the answer wasn't clear about how long to hold down the buttons and when to press them. thanks, Marilynn

Thanks, but I have tried all of that. The Menu does not have a selection for the print quality. That seems to be with the Image Quality Button . The Image Quality Button also seems to be stuck on "Fine (photo)" print. I can't change the "100% Letter Fine/ Photo Pro" reading on the printers screen. I have read the directions and it says to change it on the computer (I assume the Media Type place, but I have tryed all the other places I could find.)

On my computer, when I go to print, the media setting is on "Plain" paper as opposed to Photo Pro but putting it again and again on Plain paper, both under "Advisor" and Main Media Type doean't change it on the printer screen. I have turned it off, unplugged it, pressed the stop/reset button up to four times as in the first answer. I have even tried to change the paper to another choice, photo pro or glossy and it doesn't seem to do anything.

Also, could it be the "wrong Cartridge" message, it alternates between Wrong Cartridge" and 100% letter fine/photo pro" ?

I am going to put back in all the old empty cartridges to see if it could be a knock off problem.

    thanks, Marilynn

Dear Steve, Well I fixed the Photo Pro to Plain problem. by pressing the "paper" button and then making the plus or minus buttons look for another paper setting and then pressing ok, that seemed to reset that. whew. .. but.. It still won't print. It actually acts like it is going to print, makes little noise and then says "Start again" and it still says Wrong cartridge. I will go get all my old cartridges and put them in and see if the new knock off's from Staples could be the problem. they were garranteed but a day of problem solving isn't worth it.

I have a Canon Pixma - c_en_ch14_html_mode8.jpg Press [COPY], w1_fr_002faxa9.gif [FAX] or [SCAN], depending on the setting you want to change.

Press [Menu] repeatedly to select the menu with the setting you want to change.

Scroll through and register settings by the following operations.
• Use the directional arrows to scroll through settings. • To register a setting or access sub-settings, press [OK].
To further access sub-settings, repeat this operation. • If you select the wrong setting, press [Stop/Reset] and repeat the procedure from step 3.
When you have finished, press [Stop/Reset], if necessary.
as you can see this is from the manual...so should work for you...if not please do not thumbs up, or accept until you have tried it, then please accept and thumbs up when it is working thanks...hope this helps

yes your best bet would be to replace the cartridges as even though they are new they may not be resst correctly by the company who re-fills them, as that is all they are, they were originals just been re-filled and supposed to be reset on the chip...good luck

Hello,

I will advice you Press and hold the "Resume" button on the printer. Press and hold the "Power" button while holding down "Resume."
Release the "Resume" button. Press "Resume" twice. The indicator light will turn amber followed by green.
Release the "Power" button. Press the "Resume" button four times.
Press the "Power" button. The error code is now reset, and your printer should work fine.

Take care.

Black ink won't print and I just changed the ink

Try using the photo paper option instead of the plain paper option.

I was using plain paper but, selecting the plain paper option...I could barely read the print. The photo paper option worked great!

Hope it helps!

Remove the black cartridge and soak it with an alcohol free window cleaner soaked paper towel let it sit on the towel for a good thirty minutes then wipe clean and put back in printer run nozzle check if necessary.

Printer does not print on plain paper. It works on a glossy paper with color. Black ink printing seems not working.

Please try to change the paper type :

Please follow the steps given below:
1. Click on "Start," "Control Panel," "Printers and Other Hardware" and "Printers and Faxes."
2. Right click on the Canon printer icon and select "Properties."
3. Under "General" tab click on "Printing Preferences."
4. Go to "Quality/Copies" and under the "Paper Type" and select the right option under "Use my choice"
5. Select on "OK."

Paper problem with my Canon writer

Hi

Kindly the check the roller (paper loader) if there is something stuck in that . Then this is not the problem of software , its simply a hardware issue you need to contact Canon people as the printer should be under warranty . You can contact them at the following link :

Can't change image quality

The problem is that only "fine photo pro" is available when the paper selected is photo paper. Change source to the sheet feeder, hit the "Paper" button and then select normal paper. You'll then be able to change the quality to normal.

Won't print on normal paper

Refer to my previous post about manual under head cleaning and follow the routine through. This will most likely get you going as sounds like classic blocked nozzles. http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer
