It's Opera based and can view basically any webpage. It's definitely compatible with Flash and I'm pretty sure Java as well... You can also save a list of favorites and the like. Other features... you can zoom in on the screen... um... when someone sends you a URL on the Wii Message Board you can click it and open it in the Internet Channel. That's about it though, it just let's you go on the internet and browse websites from your Wii.

The wii will not connect to Netflix?

Go to the Wii Shop Channel, and you should find Netflix there as a free item. "Buy" it, and then you'll have Netflix on the Wii.

Wait, is your Wii connected to a Wi-Fi (wireless network) connection in your home? That's step one:

Important Notes about the Internet Channel and Opera Browser
  • The information on this page describes the features found in the latest version of the Internet Channel (ver. 9.30). You can identify the version number of your Internet Channel by selecting the Opera/Home icon in the tool bar of the browser, then clicking on the "Opera Powered" icon at the top of the screen.

  • USB keyboard support is only available for version 9.30. Visit the Wii Channels section of the Wii Shop Channel to obtain the latest version.

  • The Internet Channel supports http and https. It is not compatible with other types of protocols, such as ftp, mailto, etc.

  • The Internet Channel is compatible with Flash, up to version 8. It is compatible with all earlier versions, but versions higher than 8 will not be compatible. There is currently no way to download and install higher versions of the Flash Player to the Wii console.

  • You can allow access to the Internet Channel through the Parental Controls of the Wii. If the controls are enabled, access to the Internet Channel will require the PIN to be entereed.

  • When entering website address, you do not need to type in "http://"; however, websites that begin with "https://" will need to be entered in full.

  • The Classic Controller, Nintendo GameCube Controller, and Nunchuk are not used with the Internet Channel. In addition, only one Wii Remote will work with the Internet Channel at a time. USB keyboard support is available for versions 9.30 and higher. Visit the Wii Channels section of the Wii Shop Channel to obtain the latest version.

  • Many types of video playback, such as QuickTime (.avi) and Windows Media Video (.wmv) are not compatible with the Opera Browser and will not play.

  • The Internet Channel costs 0 Wii Points to download, and is available in the Wii Shop Channel, in the Wii Channels section.

  • The Wii console supports cookies. At this time, there is no way to delete cookies without deleting the Internet Channel's saved data from the system memory

    Wii

You have to go to the Wii shopping channel, then look for the Internet channel and buy that with some of your wii points and you should have it.
As long as your wifi is set up on your Wii you should have no worries.
I hope this helps a bit.

    Wii Internet Channel

I don't know how it works but you get Wii Shop Points by either buying them with your credit card or going to a game store and buying them there. Then you add your Wii shop points and buy the channel. There are some channels that are free. The internet channel is not.
