Question about Sharp R-1510 Microwave Oven

Open Question

When I cycle the unit on, it "pulses" on/off at about one cycle per second. I replaced the four button plastic actuator panel because the quick start button had failed and now the unit is acting up by "pulsing" on/off. I know from experience that replacing those buttons didn't cause this problem so I have to guess that something has failed or that I put one of the circuit board connectors back incorrectly...any ideas or suggestions? Thanks...

Is hertz the same as amps?

No, hertz (Hz) is the name for "cycles per second". Normal AC power (in the USA) is 60 hertz or 60 cycles per second. 1 kiloherz (KHz) = 1000 cycles per second. 1 megahertz (MHz) = 1,000,000 cycles per second. Amps is the measurement of current flowing through a device or circuit. a 100 watt light bulb pulls about 0.9 amps. A toaster or microwave oven pulls about 15 amps.

Powers off immediately after starting

My immediate reaction would be to cut your losses and buy a new unit as sooner or later you will run into a part that is no longer available.

Door latch

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Open Lever If the microwave door won't open the open lever might be broken. This part can be replaced separately.

Door Spring If the microwave door won't open the door spring may have broken. The door spring is located inside the door and keeps downward pressure on the door hook.

Door Latch If the microwave door won't open the door latch might be broken. The door latch is inside the microwave. The door hook, which is part of the door, engages with the latch to keep the door closed during operation. If the door latch or actuator breaks the door may not open.

Door Hook If the microwave door won't open the door hook might not be releasing properly. The door hook is installed inside the door and normally releases when the door is opened. The hook is made of plastic and will break over time. When this happens it will need to be replaced, it can't be repaired.

Button Spring If the microwave door won't open the button spring might be broken internally. The button spring can be replaced.
Button If the microwave door won't open the button might be broken internally. The button can be replaced.

Handle Actuator If the microwave door won't open the handle actuator might be broken. This is a plastic part which can become brittle over time. This part is connected between the door button and the door latch assembly.

My Jenn-aire microwave says locked and has a picture of a padlock. I was microwaving bacon and had just put it some to cook ( my second batch per se) and everything was locked up. I tried pushing options...

Most likely you set a child lock (front panel lock) by holding a button too long (3 seconds). Without a model number, I can't be absolutely sure of the keypad lock for your Jenn-Aire microwave. Usually, the key will have a small padlock icon on it. Press and hold this key. On my microwave you press and hold Start to toggle the lock off.

On a Jenn-Aire JMW2430 and similar models, the Button Lock is activated by a several step process (More and Button Lock). However, pressing and holding the Start button will deactivate it.

I hope this helps.

My Emerson still runs when the cycle is over I have to prop the door open so it will not run

Door switches

If one of the door interlock switches is not switching properly or there is a condensation problem on the sensor control panel, either can cause the turntable/light/oven to come on even though the "Start" button has not been depressed due to the wiring of the switches.
Check for faulty door switches and/or contaminated actuators.
I hope that helps.

I've had mine for approx. 5 years and this year the buttons started to not work. I could only use the One Minute Plus button. This morning nothing worked! I unplugged it, replugged it and still nothing....

On these models, each of the four plastic buttons on the right side of the control panel runs a hidden pad on the membrane keypad.

The other pads on the keypad are fully exposed once you open the door and you just press them directly to operate them.

These plastic button assemblies have been upgraded due to weakness and breakage.

Most often it's the bottom two buttons (Stop/Clear and Start/Minute Plus) that fail.

You can order the button assemblies here.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

The service manuals you need to refer to are here and here.

I need to reset my Kenmore Elite dishwasher but i don't know how.

Hello,

follow the below instructions:

Unlock your Kenmore dishwasher control panel by pressing and holding the "Heated Dry" button for four seconds.

Press a series of four buttons in quick succession. Press "Heated Dry," "Normal Wash," "Heated Dry" and "Normal Wash" to instruct your Kenmore dishwasher to run a short diagnostic test

Wait for two minutes while your Kenmore dishwasher runs its diagnostic test.

Press the "Cancel/Drain" button once your dishwasher has completed its diagnostic test. This should reset your dishwasher control panel and stop the "Clean" light from blinking repeatedly.
Good luck.

Control panel seems to be responsive, internal

Make sure the glass platter is correctly seated on the plastic drive. Now gently press down on the platter and see if it resists turning. If the platter turned easily, the plastic drive is spinning on the motor shaft and needs replaced. If the platter resists movement, the motor under the floor needs to be replaced. If you found any of these suggestions helpful, please rate my solution. D. Lange

Everything on my microwave works except it stopped heating food

I found this on another blog and it worked for me.

Model #KB6024MK, this is a Sharp microwave drawer that would open and close properly, but when started would not heat. These drawer units will sometimes close properly, but not enough to actuate the interlock switches to power the magnetron. A quick test is to turn the unit on and press in on the drawer handle while it is running. If you start hearing the low hum of the magnetron, the interlock assembly is out of adjustment. Removed the left side panel and gained access to the switch mounts to do a quick adjustment so when the drawer closes, the switches close properly to allow operation. It may take more than one adjustment to make it work properly so test it several times before reinstalling the side panel. It should work properly when the drawer auto closes and should not require any manual manipulation from the user.

Keypad buttons fail

I always recommend that you use the hood / vent fan whenever cooking on the stove top. That can help keep steam out of the controls.

Also, I always recommend that users spray cleaner on a soft cloth (not on the keypad itself) then wipe the control panel off.

I recommend a soft cloth since paper towels can scratch the plastic.

Also, I always recommend non-ammonia cleaners since ammonia can crack and damage plastic.

Otherwise, the spray can get into the controls and lock it up or make it act odd.

If you (or someone you know) might want to replace it yourself, I have uploaded a handy guide with pictures showing you what's typically involved.

You can usually find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

Thereshould also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind thecontrol panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which isvery helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

If you would like to have us do this for you, we do that for $39.95 plus part costs.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.
