The problem id the front drum glides are worn out. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. Here is a link that will walk you thru inspecting and replacing the glides http://appliancehelponline.com/dryerfrontbearingvideo.html

Black marks clothes

black marks on cloths usually occurs on older dryer when the felt liner that supports the drum, wears out or is torn, leaving a gap for cloths to get pulled into and between the drum-and drum support.
The replacement part (is not felt anylonger) but made of teflon and has self-sticking backing that goes on the front support after removing the old felt and glue. While you at it, order a new belt, that is most likely been slipping when the closes get jamed between the drum and support. Look up your model number on selectapart.com They aslo have tutorials so you can see how to install these items

Kenmore 500 series dryer is eating clothes, clunking and leaving black marks. Clothers are getting stuck in the drum in back of dryer. Any suggestions?

It sounds that the rollers a roller went bad and or the front/rear seal now has seperated, your drum now misaligned. Depending on model.

Maytag gas dryer about 10 years old leaving black smudge marks on clothing. The wheel was hanging up on the dryer drum. Could there be other causes for the smudge marks?

your clothes are getting caught between the drum and the rim due to bearings out of the wheel guides. These guides are what the drum rests on when it is turning. Most dryers you can access these guides by taking the front off the dryer. Not a big expense just a little difficult to get to .

Maytag dryer is leaving black marks or rings on clothes

If your clothes get marked or torn in your dryer, check these: Rollers Rear seal Front glides Front seal Rollers Your dryer may use rollers, or wheels, to support the rear of the clothes drum. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rollers wear out, you need to replace the whole set. Rear seal Your dryer may have a felt-like seal at the rear of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, clothes can get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the rear of the dryer interior. When the rear seal wears out, you need to replace it. Front glides Your dryer probably uses nylon or plastic glides at the front of the clothes drum for support. When these are worn out, they may cause the clothes drum to drop down slightly, which can pinch the clothes between the top of the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the glides wear out, you need to replace them as a set. Front seal Many dryers have a felt-like seal at the front of the drum. If this seal is worn, torn, or missing, the clothes in the dryer may get caught and torn in the space between the clothes drum and the front of the dryer interior. When the seal wears out, you need to replace it.

Front bearing assembly or just the slides. Easy check is open the door reach in and push up in the front if the drum has play replace bearing assembly or maybe just get away with the slides if it hasn't eaten in to far. To replace watch the video at www.appliancehelponline.com/servicemanual.html

Moffat heavey Duty Dryer

Hi and thank you for your request.
Assuming the marks were not there before you put them in the dryer, then there are a couple of possibilities for the marks appearing.
Check that none of the clothes lifters or ribs as they are sometimes called in the drum are not loose, as the clothes could get caught in any gaps, make sure that there is no large gap between the drum front and the front of the dryer, as again clothes could get caught here,,check to see nothing is stuck on the drum itself that could transfer onto the clothes.
Make sure the drum is free to turn and that there is no unusual noise coming from it, if it does appear to be noisier than usual ,then it could be the drum rollers or bearings are starting to wear and this could transfer grease and the like onto your clothes.
Hope these suggestions help with your prob.
Plz feel free to leave any comments and rate my suggestions.
Thanks

Most likely the front drum bearing part number 5303937139 needs to be replaced. Instructions come with the kit.
