You wont find either on the web because working on power supplies is very dangerous. If you touch the wrong thing inside you will be severely electrocuted and probably die. I would strongly recommend just buying a new power supply and not try to save a couple of bucks.

Noisy

The noise could be from dust that gets in cpu fan or power supply fan. Clean them but do not open the power supply. Better replace your power supply.

My Codegen Switching Power Supply 350W Model 300Xi is smoking when I turn on my PC, a big cloud of white smoke when I turned it off.

There's obviously something wrong in the supply, but it's not worth trying to repair. Replacement cost of computer power supplies is so low that there's no reason not to just throw it away and install a new supply. The time spent in trying to troubleshoot the problem and cost of parts will certainly exceed the price of a new supply.

Is the fan clog with dirt and is it turning?

Check your wiring as some supplys can be wired for 115 volt or 208 volt.you want 115 volt.

Power Supply, Computer wont Turn on

Possible Power supply troubles.

1. Noisy Power supply Fan,,,,,
2. Burnt smell

You can buy cheap Power supplies that will last about a year & half for about $20. Or you can spend up to $100 + dollars.

Make sure you the power supply you pick has at least 300-350 watts or more.

Run a jumper wire between your Green wire on your 20/24 port plug that would hook to the mainboard and one of the black wires in the same plug. I would put a pushbutton or switch in between the Green and a Black on that plug. You may need to put a load on the power supply like an old hard drive or a CDROM. Plug your power supply in and you will notice the fan turning. Use your multimeter to test for different voltages on the connectors. You should get +/- 12, 5, 3 Volts.

I just went into my basement and tested this out and it works great.

Enjoy

John
