Thanks for your response. The first suggestion did not work. Regarding the second suggestion, is the "help" button the one that's identified as "setup" with a question mark to the left of the button? If so, that did not work either. The screen did go blank, but the HP logo then reappears and the power button still is not lit.

Thanks for your response. The first solution did not work. Regarding the second solution, I do not see a HELP button -- is this the same as the SETUP button? If so, that did not work either. Do you have any other ideas?

My HP Officejet 7410 unit is powered and the HP Invent logo is displayed on the screen with the progress bar moving at the bottom, but the power button is not lit and none of the other printer functions are working. I already tried the two suggestions below and neither worked.

Follow the steps below to reset the printer:

    1. Without turning the unit off, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
    2. Press and hold ?# and 6? keys.
    3. While holding those keys plug the power cord back in.
    4. Wait until the screen goes blank before you release those keys.
    5. Follow on printer screen instructions.

If that does not fix the problem, try this:

    1. Unplug the power cable from printer while the printer is powered on.
    2. Press and hold OK and HELP buttons while plugging in the power cord. Wait for the screen to go black or blank before releasing the keys.
    3. Just turn on the printer and configure your printer new.

I left it unplugged for several minutes, but it didn't help.

Hm, it sounds like it is "stuck" so to speak. When was the last time it functioned correctly? Have you tried to power off the unit (if it won't power off, that's ok, skip to the next step) then unplug it physically from the wall, let it sit a good 2 minutes, push a few buttons while it is unplugged to make sure all power is drained from the capacitors... then replug it in and turn it back on. Does it get stuck again?

Let me know and I can definitely help,

Thanks
Tim

Oh wow, I'm sorry, I didn't realize that was already suggested. For some reason we can't read the history of the problem until you respond the first time to our suggestion. It sounds then like the actual unit has frozen up, some software internally in the machine has become corrupted.... This is not very common, but it does happen. I'm assuming the machine is older than a year and is probably out of warranty. However, maybe you purchased it with a major credit card (not a debit card though)? If so, it may be covered under the extended warranty offered by most credit card companies on all electronics purchased with the card. For example American Express definitely does this. If you did purchase it with a major card please call the bank / financial institution and inquire about this warranty. Regardless it sounds like this printer will need to be replaced. I am so sorry about that. If you are looking for a suggestion on a replacement, I would suggest something similar to this:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001PO6...

Again, sorry for all the back and forth, but it definitely sounds like it has failed :(

    Thanks
    Tim

The screen on my 7410 says HP invent with a moving bar on bottom and wont respond to anything. I have turnrd power of and it keeps coming up with same. Any idea?

When the software is installed for the printer, one of the applications that is added to the system is the HP Director. There are times when this application does not open on systems that are running the Windows XP operating system. One way to correct this is to run the program from the HP program group from the "All Programs" option on the Start menu. The application will load into the computer's memory but does not appear on the screen. Press "ALT" + space bar to view the shortcut menu. Select "minimize" to display the program on the taskbar. Another option is to update the program by visiting the HP Software Download Page (see Resources).

HP 7410 will not boot. It powers up and the HP logo screen flashe

This was solved really well on this blog. It is some problem with the wifi board. If you disconnect it (no so hard and well explained on the blog) you will have network printing over a cable but no wireless.

HP 7410 will not boot. It powers up and the HP logo appears on the screen with a progress bar. The display then scrambles and the power light flashes green. No buttons work or do anything.

connect the printer directly to the wall socket for the power supply if it is connected thrugh surge protector.
perform a reset :

unplug the power cable .
press and hold # and 6 key on the printer..
plug in the cable wait for 20 secs then release the buttons..
after this the printer will re-initialize .. this may take few mins..

and chek after that

Printer stopped working.

Printers are cheap and not worth fixing it sounds like you have a common problem involving the internal CPU in the printer to have it repaired it would cost twice as much as to buy a new on

HP Officejet 7410 Display HP logo and Invent

Hello.
I'm afraid this one is a critical issue. If your product is in warranty or out of warranty , it would be better to upgrade to a newer model as this is a serious flaw in the printer.

all the best.
