Question about Tomtom ONE GPS Receiver
READ THIS ENTIRE POSTING BEFORE STARTING! Remove power, turn off GPS and remove memory card. To open the Tomtom One case, take out the 4 torx screws on the back. Find someone with a very stiff thumbnail and start in the center of the top of the GPS (end with the ON/OFF button). Push the stiff finernail into the center of the crack where the grey and dark plastics come together. When the fingernail has penetrated the crack, move the fingernail to either side of the GPS. At the edge of the GPS, move the fingernail back and forth until you feel a snap and the plastic clip releases. Follow this procedure for the other side on top of the GPS. Now run the fingernail down each side along the crack until the other clips release. At this point gently remove the dark colored back (contains the battery) and the grey front (contains the electronics and screen). Do not attempt to seperate the front and back unless all clips have unsnapped. Unplug and replace battery. If the battery has some charge in it, you should be able to power the GPS up and confirm that the battery has been properly installed. Re-assemble by placing the bottom of the screen into the dark plastic back then gently push the top in until all clips have snapped back together and there are no gaps where the grey and dark plastics come together. Note: If a fingernail of sufficient size and/or strength is not available, then you will have to purchase a spreader tool (thin short blade) to insert into the crack. Many GPS battery site suppliers sell the tool kits to accomplish this. Remember not to force the removal or re-assembly of the plastic case.
