Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My dishwasher has become increasingly louder over the last year during the wash cycle. Is it a problem with the Motor and Capacitor? I know it is not something in the Chopper Assembly, I have fixed those issues in the past. This noise is like a loud hum!

The noise is usually due to failing bearings in the wash pump.
The parts involved that you are looking for are
Pump and Motor and Chopper

I am assuming this is the information you were after.

Please post a comment to confirm.

I believe the capacitor will be part of the new pump motor assembly.
Check the old pump before ordering new one as it might be just something stuck inside that might be pushing.

Why is my Whirlpool dishwasher (GU1500XTLS) making a loug noise during a drain, wash and rinse cycle?

Could be a bearing, but it could also mean something ggt past the intake screen at the bottom and was pulled into the impeller. Turn off the power, remove the screen and inspect the impeller intake for any obstruction and remove it.

They can be complicated to re-assemble. Best solution is to video the procedure (if you have a video camera) during disassembly and make notes and diagrams to orient things properly and make sure the correct screws go back where they shoud. Takes more time, but you'll be glad you did, it will save you a lot of aggrevation in the long run.

Kitchenaid Superba dishwasher getting louder in wash cycle

The bearings in the wash motor can wear and cause the machine to get louder, They can be replaced but it depends on the age of the machine if it's worth repairing or not.

GU1500XTL loud humming sound during the cycle, getting louder

The run capacitor on the main wash motor needs replacing. Eventually it will just hum and overheat instead of rotating, so better replace it now before it overheats.

I doubt you can acces it easily yourself, as it may be away from the motor, and have to be tracked down.

Diswasher motor making noise during wash cycle

It could be the impeller on the motor. The impeller fits over the shaft of the motor and might have split/broken up. That funny noise is probably the shaft spinning inside the damage impeller. Fortunately the impeler is fairly inexpensive and easy to replace. I believe there are one or two parts/covers to remove that are held in by a roughly half dozen torx screws.

faults not related i would think is there a low humming noise when supposed to be wsahing? if so this is the motor capacitor faulty in all probability. this is a cheap part and easy to replace. otherwise, check if power to pump. if no power then points to a module fault. if there is power, points to a motor fault
