My Sears model 110 will wash but won't spin. Sounds like it is locked up and the motor just hums.

-If the motor was not running at all i would say you have a bad lid switch.
- If the motor is definitely running then look under the washer at the interior cabinet about level with the bottom of the tub for signs of oil. If you see a ring around the case- you have a bad transmission.
-If no oil MAKE SURE it is still washing and doesn't just sound like it is as you may have a bad drive coupler.
-If the machine is washing, has no oil and just will not spin you may have one of the following:
-wash tub fallen and contacting outer tub due to worn drive block (check for space under agitator)
-item lodged between tubs- use flash light to look at all of the holes on bottom of tub as well as at top between white tub cover and inner wash tub balance ring
-something jammed in pump- unusual to still have wash action as pump is still running in reverse (sucking water back) but may have something that gets driven into it when trying to drain/ spin
-defective gear in transmission not allowing neutral brake to shift out to spin
Good luck!

Oil is spewing into the wash tub during the spin

This may be a busted tub seal, but is usually caused by the outer plastic tub retaining grease and debris from previous loads. I would try running a hot water only wash cycle at full water capacity and adding a strong degreaser. This should emulsify any left over grease while also washing out the outer tub. If the problem persists, you may need to repeat the procedure. Remember that your washing machine transmission is located below the drum and tub assembly and is full of oil, but that oil simply cannot travel uphill.

Tub won't agitate and when it does spin, makes a grinding noise.

its probably in the gear case. or spin tube bearings. did you see any oil leaks on the gear case or clutch and break area.

Washer leaks under tub

Can you see exactly where the water is coming from? When the machine is spinning and you lift the lid does it stop in less than four seconds? Does the water come from the side of the tub near an area where a tube attaches? Is there water staining down the side of the tub and an area near the top shows leaking? Is there rust and oil stains at the base of the gear case? Please blog back, SearsTechToo.
