My check engine light is on. it is pulling 4 codes P0302 P1670 P0174 P0171

code p 0302 is a misfire on no 2 cylinder
check that the plug lead is on properly, that the lead is operational
move the injector from 2 to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the move
code p 0174 refers to system too lean bank 2===causes intake /exhaust leak---fuel pressure / pump---injector/s--AIR system--hose connection/s
code p 0171 refers to system too lean bank 1=== causes intake /exhaust leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors---fuel pressure / pump---injector/s -- HO2S
You stated that you replaced the O2 sensor but that is different to the HO2S sensor , does a different job and controls the air/fuel mixture from the ECM
because it has banks 1 and 2 it is a v engine and you will have a HO2S in the exhaust manifold or before the cat converter for each exhaust
O2 sensors are after the cat converter and confirm the HO2S settings for the ECM
to put the lights out , use a scan tool to reset the ECM

Replaced Catalytic Conv., Fuel Pressure Reg, Fuel Pressure Sensor, Muffler/exhaust. Cat still gets glowing orange/red. Any help ?

Do a compression check of the engine. You may have a bent or burnt exhaust valve that is letting unburned fuel get into the exhaust stream. It will burn in the cat and that can cause the red glow.

I replaced catalytic converter in my 2006 Pacifica and after two months check engine light came back on,code 420 bad cat.

you will get this code when the incompletely burned fuel in the cat has built up to a certain level and cat can no longer absorb more. The cause of incompletely burned fuel in the cat can be due to many reasons:

1. sparkplugs not firing correctly (wrong gap or fouled)(problem with ingntion components(wiring to spark plugs to high resistance)
2. fuel injectors are fouled.
3. bad fuel, incorrect fuel (regular vs premium-see user manual)

You will have to verify plugs are good, plug wires are good, injectors are clean, fuel is good.

once you get these things line out the light will eventually go out.

P0420 p1399

99 civic? ever tune it up, or run the cam belt fore ever?
you do now, ignoring the bent, ends in bent valves, right?

which engine option, cylinder count and displacment. USA 1.6L? I-4?

misfiring. ever tune it up this decade? or 60k miles? with cam belt.
1399 is misfire (let me guess, the CEL flashes )
do not skip the belt if due, or you will lunch the engine.

420 is: (ID IGNORE THIS, till the MISFIRE ENDS !!!)
Possible causes
- Three way catalyst converter Bank 1
- Exhaust tube
- Intake air leaks
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Fuel injector leaks
- Spark plugs may be faulty
- Improper ignition timing
- Engine Control Module (ECM)

(the bar room answer for 420 is, the CAT is weak, )
the autoshop class>? ASE.. if the cat is or was tortured (misfire)
then fix that first and pray the cat bakes dry and passes 42x codes
if bake many dry, and 420s cleared.
what happens is you overload the CAT with raw fuel, ignore it.
the CEL flashing (USA) means you are KILLING THE CAT.

now we cover, misfire
there are huge possibles.
in a big shop we connect 5 gas to tail and start there .
in a lesser shop, plenty. we check closed loop at idle
if not in closed loop at idle, we fix that first. (easy ,car is parked)
(later closed loop at 40mph light flat cruise, steady right foot) no hills.
Misfire, :
Bad engine, bent a valve> do to ignoring the belt. got vacuum bounce?
bad spark
bad injection rates, or injectors clogged ,dead or weak or leaking.

me, i watch pendings to see of P0301 , to P030x (x is cylinder num)
if the scan tools shows any misfire codes, i do a leak down
on the cylinder that misfires, 300s is random.

lots of ways, EGR stuck open
AFR runing lean, scan too sees that...
AFR stuck rich, same.
the best order is this. (no clues with extra DTCS
is:
compression test. and leak down. if smart.
spark tests.
last fueling, rates, (fails closed loop at idle spark good , engine good.
i do the the injector leak down tests. and balance,

i also do the cAT melted test. cat back pressure test
less that 2psi at 2500rpm.

Report code p0430

which engine.?
must be V6?
bank2 failure.
it means that many other tests must be done to find the true cause.
in bar room stool talk.
The rear cat sensor , twitched too much
can be 3 things, cat bad, 02 seneor bad or engine is running
so ratty, it overtaxes the CAT, (or both)

Three way catalyst converter Bank 2
- Exhaust tube
- Intake air leaks
- Fuel injectors may be faulty
- Fuel injector leaks
- Spark plugs may be faulty
- Improper ignition timing
- Engine Control Module (ECM) http://engine-codes.com/p0430_jeep.html

1998 ranger 2.5 manual enging miss

ck for leak at intake. if no leak pcm/ecm may be sending fire command to slow to # 1 . the fuel injector is always hot the ecm sends a ground to the injector. even new parts can be bad ck inj, with ohm meter resistance should be the same between each inj. im not sure of the specifications but they should read the same my jimmy specs are 1.9-2.1 any other reading is bad . no resistance or lower or higher readings my injector would be bad. 140 is good reading, timing can be off a little and still run but rough like a miss. a code wont set most misfires will set a dtc or flash the engine light to let you know damage to cat system is happening , to much fuel a system rich,to little a lean. a bad mass airflow meter can also cause a misfiring or rough idle ck with scanner if dirty clean with brake cleaner first before replacing . hope this helps some let me know how it goes.

Have a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, It is throwing 3 codes....PO172, PO420 and PO300 what can cause theese?

* p0172 bank 1 rich. If you have access to a scan tool, I would check the fuel trim and see if engine is running rich all the time. In Chevy, if both banks are too lean or too rich, usually the cause is the Mass Air Flow sensor being dirty.
* P0420 The PCM copares switch rates between the front O2 sensors and the downstream catalyst moniters. The catylist moniters are often mistaken as O2 sensors, and they are, but that is not their job, or what they are called. By comparing the switch rates between the front (before cat) and rear (downstream of cat) the PCM knows if the cat is affecting the exaust, and how much it is affecting the exaust. If it sees little or no effect o the exaust gases that have passed through the cat, then it decides that the cat is not working anymore, and sets a P0420, bank 1 it is. To check this yourself, you will need to bring up data stream on your scanner, watch the upstream and downstream O2 parameters and see if they are following each other closely. If the cat is working right, you should see a fairly rapid switch rate, probably 5 or 6 times a minute on the front O2, but almost a flat line just above .5 volts on the rear. If the rear is switching often you proabably need a catalytic converter. Most likely related to the P0172 code above.
* P0300 multi misfire probable cause. Fuel injectors always seem to get the blame for this one since the there is only a lean condition to one side of the engine.
The fuel injectors on these trucks really have one problem, the poppet nozzles at the end. They can stick either open or closed. If they are stuck closed, then servicing the system will clear up the problem (I recommend that they use the 'top engine cleaner' over anything else). However, if they are stuck OPEN, then no amount of cleaning or servicing will fix the problem unless the nozzles are replaced.
Here is a TSB link to the GM's upgrade from the SCPI to MPI system for your truck. http://members.shaw.ca/betterthanyoutoo/Sticking%20Poppet.htm
Here is also a link to the conversion being done on a 4.3 V6 vortec with the same issues your having. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f107/scpi-to-mfi-upgrade-kit-324166/
Good luck and try using fuel injector cleaner first to address the issue, Lucas fuel injector cleaner is great for the price for how much you get for it. Just follow the instructions on the bottle and you should be good for a month of injector cleaner when you fill up the gas tank.
Thank you for using Fixya

Check Engine Light was on for Downstream O2 sensor, I decided to clean the fuel injectors because i haven't done that in 30,000 miles. Check engine light goes off. Is it possible that the CEL for the O2...

Downstream O2 is after the cat. A severe rich mix could set code. If one of the injectors was leaking due to dirt , it should have caused a miss in that cylinder. I hope that cleaning has solved your problem.
