the problem we have ben told from a repair man is that our motor and pump freezes which is common. When he came o our home he touched the dials and something in the bottom and it started immediately. our sink drain is working properly. As I stated before however I need to know where a reset button is exactly. do you have a dishwasher schematic? From what I see it
does not have that many parts.

    Hi Daniel

I know nothing about where drain hoses are in order to check them out. Do you know of a schematic

or explain where I can find these hoses?

  • nellinnovati Sep 14, 2010

Also Daniel you should know that the dishwasher collected the water on the base because the machine didn't start initially and I turned the dials manually to see if it would do anything.

Hi

Dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. Check the drain hose for any visible clogging, remove if present. If no visible lint is present then remove then turn off the dishwasher and remove the drain hose and check for any visible clogging. If still not visible then the drain filter or drain pump is clogged and you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump. Also check the wiring connections to the timer switch.

Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn

    Hi

Please provide me the make and model number of your dishwasher so that I can provide you the detailed information & schematics. And, the dishwasher wasn't working earlier because of a loose connection or wiring on the timer.

    Hi

Please check part#904(timer) and the wiring to this part in the schematic---

Also check the schematic for your dishwasher's drain pump(part#310) and drain filter--

Hope this helps... If it does please do not forget to accept the solution or post back for assistance.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter. Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn't overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn't working properly, the drain pump isn't working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home's drain lines. First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. If you have checked the drain hose and can't locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks

KitchenAid dishwasher allows water to drain while washing

Your dishwasher is siphoning the water out. The drain hose should turn upward, nearly to the bottom side of the counter top, before it attaches to the drain or disposal. If it has an independant drain it still needs the rise and also needs an air break to stop the siphoning.

Dishwasher will not go into wash cycle.

On the LG LDF6810 dishwasher, the best you can do is remove the bottom spray arm and then the 10 phillips screws that hold the filter down.
Pull the filter out and clean it as best you can.
Inspect the sump area beneath where the filter was. Be careful of broken glass and remove all debris. Use a flashlight and look into every little spot down there. Reassemble the dishwasher and operate your DW.
If you still have problems, I recommend a service call. Check your manual to confirm but most LG dishwashers have a 1 year parts & labor plus a 2 year parts only. Have your proof of purchase ready.

GE Nautilus Drain Problem

I had the same problem (water remaining in the bottom) after the rinse cycle. FYI my GE Nautilus is 7-years old.
(1) I disconnected the drain tube at the garbage disposal unit (in the sink) and, using a wire coat hangar freed a 'plug' of sludge located at the spot where the drain tube clamps onto the garbage disposal. I blew into the drainage tube to further clear other 'plugs' I observed but could not reach w/the coat hangar.
(2) I unscrewed the Filter/Strainer on the inside (bottom) of the dishwasher; and further removed the inner filter; cleaned both out.
(3) Re-ran the dishwasher thru complete wash/rinse cycles (to check for leaks. There were none.
Finally, upon completion of the w/r cycles there will always be a small pool of water (residing in the filter area). However my dishes are clean and (after 7-years) checking the drain tube and filters was a breeze.
Hope this helps
