The "F" button is a function button similar to "SHIFT" or "CTRL" on a computer keyboard. When pressed and held while pressing another button, a secondary function will be performed. The secondary function is what is printed diagonally below the button. So when the function button is pressed the H/L button becomes the "Lock" button.
