Hi Rose,
It basically depends on the WLAN Card that your IBM ThinkPad has in it.
I would suggest you to go for Linksys G Router.

Hope this helps.
Cheers!!! Have a nice day Rose!!!

I cant connect to wifi with my ibm thinkpad r30 laptop. id like to connect if possible.

If you have not yet installed the wireless card driver then install it.
To connect to your wireless router then -
Theencryption key secures your data from unauthorized access. The router's password is a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA orWPA2 encryption key. The Passphrase generates the WEP or WPA or WPA2 encryptionkey and this is in the router's wireless settings. To connect to your wireless router, configure the router'swireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPAor WPA2 encryption key and then configure wireless cards in the laptops and orcomputers with these router's wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktopcomputers can communicate with your wireless router.

I cant get a wireless connection on my IBM R40 using a Linksys G

I had the same problem with my R40 (2681) and a Linksys G router. The specs on IBM's/Lenovo's site indicate that the wireless card in the R40 only handles certain types of wireless encryption. The newer types (e.g. WPA) won't work on it and they are usually the standard on routers nowadays. My Linksys G router works fine with the R40 with WEP or with no encryption. Not ideal, but that's life with an old laptop.

We can't get our IBM T30 to connect with our Linksys router . The computer has a 3com wireless card

Has the Wireless card ever worked attached to another wireless router?

Is the card an internal miniPCI card, and is it an official IBM card for your region? Thinkpads check whether the card is for the correct region before configuring them in the Windows drivers.

Are you using the Thinkpad Assistant Wireless tool. I have found that it appears to be impossible to configure this software for 64 bit WEP or WPA PSK authentication.

I keep losing my connection - IBM Thinkpad t42

Are you using IBM SW or Windows to manage the wireless? Occassionally, the IBM SW has issues with certain model routers and encyrption types.

You can also try unchecking the "Allow Computer to turn this device off to save power" in the adapter properties and

Adjusting the power on the wireless device to the max. By default IBM sets it in the middle to conserve power.

THE INTERNET

Uninstall your wireless NIC and restart your computer, that will reset your card. If that dosent work, get a external Wireless card and hook a antenna to increase your signal, which also might be your problem. Or just pay for internet?

Wireless connection

Hi,

There are a few requirements other than the laptop and the wireless card. You need to also have an Wireless AP/Router that must be connected to the modem that connects to your ISP. All your PCs must then connect to this router either using the wired/Ethernet ports or WiFi.

If such a device (WiFi AP/Router) already exists and is connected to your modem and your other PC(s) are tied up to it and can access the Internet, you need to install the drivers (in a CD that came with the wireless card) to your IBM ThinkPad. Thereafter, you need to configure your laptop's wireless networking to access the AP/router. Your AP/Router must also be configured to accept wireless clients.

Please post back with brand/model of your AP/Router.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

What kind of security are you using? Try turning security in router off (tempory) to see if its just a security issue.
