These gaskets are press fitted on to the slot as the sealing gasket.
So procure the orginal part fromt he dealer for the size, remove by using a blunt screw driver, clean off the grooves all along the door, then place the head tip of the gasket and push into the slot.
The end should be made to merge correctly before it is cut.

    Thank you for your reply.

The first problem I have is obtaining the part, which is obsolete, according to Whirlpool, which owns the Admiral brand. They told me the part number is 24157-8 (model number C1042L). If you have any idea where I could get that part, I’d appreciate your letting me know.

    Thank you again.

The only possible way since Whirlpool does not have this part is to get the look alike type which is available in many industrial spares stores used for sealign gasketts in multipurpose. so take thsi sample along and it might help. Also some similar types might suit with a fridge spares shop.

The issues is easy to solve, all you need to do is look at the model and serial of the refrigeration unit and we can match up a gasket for you at www.coolergaskets.com. Once you get it they either push in or screw in, typically screw in. So you would unscrew the old gasket and install the new one. Probably looking at about 1 hour to fix it. Hi Sandy and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Usually refrigerators use the condenser plumbing to create heat around the door gaskets. If your getting heat on the door gaskets that means that the condenser fan in the back is either not running or.... the condenser coils are clogged with lint. The fan should be running anytime the compressor is running. Since you said it is starting to trip the breaker.. I am assuming there may be a problem with the condenser fan being stuck or the windings have failed. Without a model number I can not pass you replacement fan parts information. I will say that the average person can change the condenser fan if they just take their time and pay attention to how it is mounted.

Remove the rear lower fiberboard cover:
Check the condenser fan... clean the condenser coils in the bottom rear of the unit. You can..... use and external fan directed into the back of the refrigerator while your awaiting parts to keep the unit going. All your doing is getting rid of the heat that the condenser fan would have done if it was working properly.

If directing a fan at the back of unit does not cause ther temperature around the door gaskets to drop your original assumption of having heating elements between the doors may be correct. Usually units that have actual heaters have an enrgery saver switch in the fresh food compartment that will turn off the heaters.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly
