Maybe the gas pressure needs a fill up or the compressor must pump more. Check for the capacitor of the motor. If weak the speed can be low and pumping reduced thereby reducing the cooling.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid KBFL25ETSS00 bottom freezer refrigerator

You mean the temps are getting warmer? Look inside the rear of your freezer and back wall and tell me if you see snow or a layir of frost building. If so pull everything and unplug and do a manual defrost a hair drier will speed things up.Sounds like we need to use the tech sheet here but Kitchenaid will not allow me to publish here. So Skater125 you need to click here and I will send it to you only, Thanks, Sea Breeze

1998 GT22DKXGN00 refrigerator freezes, where is thermostat in refrigerator ? This is a Whirlpool

Check refrigerator and freezer temperature. If the freezer is above 0 degrees Fahrenheit it is likely the cooling capacity of the unit has reduced due to low charge or weak compressor. What usually happens is that the freezer is not able to reach the proper temperature and the unit runs continuously. The result is that the refrigerator via the freezer-refrigerator air flow connection freezes.

"This is not intuitive", but the logic is that from the compressor running continuously the freezing air that flows into the refrigerator side results in that the refrigerator will freeze,.

Check the temperatures. If the freezer is above 10 degrees F it is almost certianty the cooling capacity has been reduced.

If equipped with an ice maker the output of the ice-maker will also reduce with this problem

It is possible to have the compressor replaced but not usually cost effective.

I have both freezer and refri setting on 6...is that okay?

It does not matter as long as the temperature inside each is correct. 35 to 40 degrees F in the refrigerator and 0 degrees F in the freezer.

What does 34F ER mean

Put a freezer thermometer in the freezer and see if it reads +34 degrees, then put it in the refrigerator. If the freezer reading is above 0 degrees, say +34, then the freezer is too warm. If the refrigerator is reading 34 and the freezer is way cold, then the refrigerator is getting too cold. This could be either a thermostat setting too cold or the sensing isn't reading properly or a much more serious issue. Generally a refrigerator should be no warmer than +40 but not freezing either +32 degrees and a freezer should be about 0 degrees. Make sure nothing is blocking the air flow duct work or where the sensors are located.

How to set a temperture

Hello,

By keep your refrigerator or freezer too cold, it unnecessarily wastes electricity. The recommended temperature is 37 to 40 degrees for the fresh food compartment of the refrigerator. The recommended temperature for the freezer compartment is 5 degrees. If you have a separate freezer for long-term food storage, it should kept at 0 to -5 degrees.

The following steps below is how to set the temperature of your refrigerator.

The first thing you must know is that your refrigerator should be set at 37-38 degrees. Anything at 40 or higher and you are risking food born illness (food poisoning) or spoiling your food.

Step 2
Place your magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator.

Step 3
Set your dial on your refrigerator to the second lowest setting. (If your refrigerator is already equipped with a digital thermostat, simply set it for 37 or 38 degrees and do not move on to the next step)

Step 4
After 2 hours, check your thermometer reading. If your reading is 38 degrees, there is no need to go higher and you are ready to put your groceries in. Be sure not to open and close your refrigerator during these two hours or your temperature reading will be incorrect.

If your reading is higher than 38 degrees, move your dial up to the next coldest setting and repeat the steps every two hours until you reach the correct temperature for your refrigerator.

Step 5
Once you have reached the correct refrigeration temperature for your refrigerator, place the magnetic thermometer in the refrigerator permanently and watch for changes.

Typically, your refrigerator temperature will need to be adjusted with the seasons, a higher setting in the summer and a lower setting in the winter.

Hope this helpout and take care.

Our Kitchenaid KBFA25ERSS01 freezer suddenly does not stay at 0 degrees. Fluctuates between 2 degrees and 12 degrees.

Sounds to me like you could have some serious problems. What you're seeing could be either the result of faulty electronics (i.e. the thermostat) or an even larger problem with the refrigeration system itself.

About the only thing that I could think of that could be repaired by the user would be the door seals if those are leaking. Anything more intensive than that though and your best bet is to contact a service person.
