1. Select the cells where you want currencies to be dispalyed.
2. Now right click and select "Format Cells".
3. Now on the Number Tab Select "Currency" option.
4. Now Click on the drop-down list of "Symbol" and select "Rs" from the list
5. You are done

Select Any single cell or group of cell, Right click --> Context menu will be displayed ----> Select Format Cells options --->in Format cell Windows Under Number Tab in the Category Section Select Currency and Under Symbol List Select Rs or INR as Indian Rupee Currency .and then Click okay Button

You need to right click on the cell and click on:

Format Cells, Number Tab, Currency, Select Rs.

That will convert the cell to display INR.

First download foradian currency font and install in windows
then configure currency format in Tally to Indian and select Indian Rupee symbol from the list.

How to insert the rupee symbal in excel


Let me add with a brief details on how to download, how to install and how to type Indian Rupee Symbol:
Click here to download INR Rupee font, download this, extract the font file (once you open the zip file, you'll see a file name "Rupee"), copy it and paste it in the Fonts folder of the Control Panel of your computer.
Open a word processing program like Ms-word (in your case, Excel) and select the font as "Rupee" from the drop down lists, now press

You'll see the Rupee symbol :
