Question about GE Dishwashers

1 Answer

Hi, we own an old VDB2010KC119 ser:KES79829. The bottom jet/propeller is still shooting water but it does not spin around anymore. It is not jammed in place and can be moved manually. Is this worth fixing?

You need to remove the rotor and inspect the holes on either side. If there are 5 holes on the left hand side there will be 5 holes on the Rhs. Every hole has to be completely clear of blockage or the rotor will not rotate. Make sure not even one is blocked. Check to see if rotor spins nicely when flicked and make sure it doed not touch anything when operating(washing). That should definately sort the problem out.

Pool cleaner will vaccuum but no movement in pool. plenty of water pressure going thru back hose

Before doing anything, take the Jet Vac out of the pool and set it on the deck. Stand clear and turn it on. It should have enough water going through the blue jet to spray several feet and propel the jet vac on dry land.

What propels the Jet Vac is not the water going through the hose, but the water going through the little blue Jet under the Hose. You can unscrew this from the bottom of the shell and clean out any obstructions. Also, check the screen at the connection where the hose meets the wall. It is located in the white valve with the red button on it right at the pool wall. It will unscrew from the wall of the pool with the system off. Also make sure the booster pump is coming on.

Also, it may be stuck in reverse or neutral. If this is the case there will be jets of water shooting forward of the jet vac when it is on dry land.

The spinner on top of the dishwasher, that I guess shoots out the water is not spinning. I think?

You may have debris in the sprayer arm jets. It is usually simple to remove the sprayer arms. Then rinse them well using the sink sprayer for forceful water power. I have sometimes had to use a tweezer to remove bits of plastic, paper, bone, or food particles. Once you've remove the debris, rinse well forcing water through to dislodge any other debris. Once you've reattached the sprayer arms, you should have cleaner dishes. Also, some brands of dishwashers have a pipe that runs up the inside back wall and connects to a pipe that runs under the top shelf. Water flowing through this pipe under the top shelf propels the sprayer arms. If the connection at the back is not flush with the "propel" pipe there won't be enough water pressure to turn the sprayer arm. Check to see if your dishwasher has this type of set up.
I hope this works. If it does, please let Fixya know by rating my solution.
Good luck!

My dishwasher is aprox. 9 years old and has always worked fine. on the last load, a hard scum was left on everything....any suggestions??

You can get dishwasher descaler crystals to flush out and clean the machine.

Make sure the water jets are not blocked. you can use a sharp object to poke the holes and free them up if they are blocked. Also make sure when you are loading dishes, they are not resting on the water jet propellers and they move freely.

Also remove the bottom tray filters and clean thouroughly.

Hope this helps.

The bottom water "propeller" won't go around, although the motor still goes...

Remove the bottom water jet and clean everything. Usually, there are tabs on the sides of the base to release it.

Upper arm does not spin on Frigidaire model # FDB635RFS6 dishwasher. I cleaned screen around sump and rinsed out arm. Arm is not physically obstructed. Suggestions? Thanks!

Hi,
OK, the arm is jet-propelled, so it will spin if it is free to rotate and has water squirting down into it. If it >is< free to rotate, then either the water isn't squirting, or it is missing the target. On my machine - different brand - the guide cone came loose when I dismantled the upper bar assembly and it hadn't gone back correctly aligned, so the water missed the hole.

I'd check that first. D.

Bottom wash arm

there is a blockage but may not be obvious. arm turns only by water spraying out of the angled jets at the end of the arm. take arm off, run water thro the centre hole and this is udually enough to force the debris to the jets. clean out and check
