Memory card for Olympus FE270

You can purchase Smartmedia 3.3 memory cards at Nextag.com, Amazon.com and eBay.com amongst others. Make sure you buy Olympus or make sure you format any other purchased card in the camera. BTW, you can purchase 128MB cards as well, not only 16 and 32MB.

I would try a different card if you have one. They can fail. If the card slot on the camera is bad then you will want to contact Olympus as they typically offer two years on camera bodies if you have registered your product at time of purchase. Failing that, try one of the Olympus XD cards in the other memory slot as an alternative to repairing camera if warranty is expired.

They are correct...Olympus no longer makes the xd picture card. You might be able to find one at amazon.com This is a 7 year old camera and only 2megapixels. If I were you, I would step up to a modern camera that uses SD/SDHC cards. You will be amazed at the results you will get.

Remove the existing memory card and keep if for safe keeping. Purchase another memory card - and plug it in. You would need to format the card and use it. Memory cards are cheap nowadays. If your son requires his photos then replace the old card and you can view all the images that he had stored in it. As for yourself you might as well use your OWN memory card.

The largest memory card that the camera can support is a 128mb smartmedia card. The card will hold approx 257 images when set to HQ mode.

the basic memory is only for about 5 pics.. you need to purchase xd pic card

Is that card compatible with that camera. They make HD (high definition) cards (4gig and above) that will only work with newer camera's. Of course, i am speaking of SD cards. But the XD may have a similar feature.
That is the exact error i got when i tried to use an HD card in my 5 year old camera.
Try downgrading to a smaller memory card. Also, is that memory card exactly as the one you have had prior to this?
