What happened was there was an arc between layers of the multi-layer circuit board in the HCA2400 power amp at the rear of the unit. It takes extensive labor to repair the board and $20 of parts.

If you replaced the fuse or if no lights come on, it likely took out the power supply too... that is about $30 of parts.

IF THE LIGHTS still come on, get a replacement HCA2400 module (includes heat sink) and replace it. They cost about $175 online.

I have repaired several of these, but it requires a lot of skill and time to repair the module as the burned area must be carved out and replaced with jumpers and several semiconductors have to be replaced and probably a metering resistor which is usual source of the smoke.

Popped lights on no sound

Probably smoked the output IC(it is the chip mounted to the heat sink attached to the fan) which can be purchased from marshall directly or from one of their service centers. Also P-H216 sold at tubesandmore.com should work. No soldering required. Look at that IC(chip) to see if it looks burnt or has a crater on it which would indicate that that is indeed you bad component.

The part connected to the fan started smoking

Usually an aluminum heat sink is connected to the fan or near it and an amplifier chip/stick is on that. If that is what smoked, you need to take it in for replacement. Continued powering of this could damage the speaker.

Plugged into 220 volt and it smoked.

Oops! You may well have fried your amp. Did you check the voltage selector before plugging it in?

Where can I buy a power board for a Sp200 Korg piano. ( KIP-2052)

Buying a power supply can be expensive and hard to get.

A better plan is to repair the board unless it is totally smoked. Most components are available through Digikey.com or Mouser, com,

Search google for "Korg repair parts" for comlete module if not repairable.

My p.a. amp makes a loud bang after ten minutes

DO NOT use while this problem exists as you may damage your speakers.

You may be overheating the unit and the thermal cutouts may be opening... CHECK that the fans and vents are all in good order.

Check that you are not putting speaker loads LOWER than the rating of the amp onto the amp.

We can only guess at what brand you might have.

First check for loose cables. Then check how warm the unit gets.

If you suspect thermal problem, then put it in freezer for a while and then see if it "lasts" longer. If it does, the problem is likely thermal.

This could be a failure that is very hard on your speakers.

My mg100hdfx head shorted out and i replaced the fuse the fan also smoked and sparked when i replaced it and then i put in another and it still dont work what should i do

When the fuse blew you should NOT have replaced it without investigating the cause.

It is likely several components were damaged and probably more when you replaced just the fuse and tried it.

The unit needs to go to a shop now for refurbishment.

Hohner symphonie D98, no key board sound

Look for an exploded electrolytic capacitor. They amke a pretty loud bang and make a visible mess. CLEAN any residue when restoring.

If you cannot hear a his from the speaker when you turn up the volume all the way, there is a good chance you blew the speaker. It can be replaced. If it is not the speaker then it need to go in for service. If you are neer the philadelphia area you can bring it to Pro Line Music 215-736-8055

Blows main fuse. Found burnt place on circuit board where connection 1 is. It's the board that's mounted to the heat sink with fan at the back. Disconnected connector 3 that goes to con 1. Now fuse does...

Chances are a power transistor has shorted. Sometimes input rectifier diodes short or electrolytic caps.

Here is a hint to troubleshoot this: Connect a 150 watt lamp in series with the hot side of the power line to the amp. This will limit the current (and voltage) and prevent the fuse from blowing. You can do a lot of troubleshooting at the much reduced voltage.

If board is burnt to carbon, this "cancer" needs to be cut out and removed as the blackened board is slightly conducive instead of an insulator. Often a circuit trace has fried the board. One must install jumpers around ones that have smoked.
