Washer wont stop pumping, lid message turns on even when washer off
few days ago my washer stopped working... its a kenmore oasis he 2708, bought in 2006. its like the computer is stuck on a cycle or something. first thing that happens is that even when the washer is off, when i open the lid it say lid and eventaully will start the pump out and will not turn off until i unplug it. when i do start a program, it goes straight to pump out, like i can hear the pump going, but nothign happening. i was able to use it once, sorta, some water came out but then it was just the pump again, like instead of water shooting out, the pump would go on. i tried the clean washer program, it worked for a lilttle bit and now it doesnt do anythign....
is it the brain?

this washer has a lid switch problem...or possible main board failure, but lid does concentrate on the lid safety switch. If you remember when you open the lid it stops..well, its a safety feature and prevents tub from spinning with lid open...this one is more difficult to service if your not use to working on washers...try unplugging machine and leaving off for awhile...does the door lock? check switch for lid fault
This is a known problem with this model. Call 800-847-9083 and give them the model and serial number to see if your unit is covered by a recall on the control board. I called a few weeks ago and they sent the part and a tech to install it for free on my 3 year old machine.
sound like the rps kit is required and is time comsuming will have to remove the back and console includes harness and new rps sensor and inset for sensor if not sure if you can perform it would be better to call service tech....must remove from the bottom of the motor location(main drive d/c motor)
its the power button its a common prob use a soldering iron and switch it with the load sinal button this happpens as the washer alallows moisture to get on the board as its not protected it will save u a ton of money and anyone can do it
I have one of the first kenmore oasis and I get the F1 and off balance error all the time I called the recall number line is 1 (800) 659 7026 they said that they are doing a free upgrade to replace the control board the only problem is the board is on a back order and it may take a week to get the part in.
take your outlet pipe and place into a bucket so that it is low to the ground if water comes out then it could be that your pump is faulty when the water has all drained away the pressure switch will reset itself and the lid will now open if no water comes out un-clamp your outlet pipe from your pump if then water comes out then your pipe will be blocked m8
Ky, see if you can put the machine in the service mode by doing this: turn the washer on, select any one button except for power, start and stop. press and hold it for 3 seconds--release for 3 seconds--press and hold for 3 seconds--release for 3 seconds--press and hold for 3 seconds....if you entered it correctly all the indicators will light for 5 seconds and 88 will show in the 2 digit display..It will now go into a automatic test cycle. If no faults are found it should unlock the top. This auto test will go through c0 to c9, you will see it in the display. If this all fails, you can access your wash by pushing in the clips on the left and right side front of the washer lid. The whole top will lift up. I would still call for service while it's under warranty. Catriver...post back.
