My Husqvarna Viking 990S has seized up due to another person forcing sewing over jeans seam, what can I do

May be best to take it for service. Who knows how the machine was affected during the denim sewing project. It could very well be out of time.

Recently my sewing group was given Husvarna Viking Emerald 116. Stitch width is off.

Be sure and use the correct sewing foot...the machine is probably reading the foot and won't let you make adjustments. Also make sure the needle plate is the correct one.

How do I center the needle on a Viking 6430; there is no eccentric adjustment on the needle bar frame on this model.

Am having difficulty finding information on this machine.

Perhaps this machine is a left-needle position machine, ie the normal straight stitch sewing position is on the left, not centered. There are quite a few machines out there with this feature, Necchi is another. The needle only swings right when a decorative or zig-zag stitch is selected.

If it is actually a center-needle position machine, it is probably out of alignment. There is most likely an adjustment. For more help, you can also join some Viking user groups on Yahoo. Most members are very dedicated to the brand and would be able to provide some very helpful advice.

Needle hitting stitch plate on my Viking Lilly 545 recently had it serviced, was sewing fine

try a new needle
if the needle is still hitting the needle plate, then it's possible that the machine is out of time and needs to be adjusted, or there is something wrong with the needle bar.

Needle position won't lock in

Sounds like the needle bar alignment is broken. When you turn on the machine, does the needle move from left to right and then goes to center? This is called calibrating to center. I suspect it doesn't. Best recommendation is to take to local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer for service or have them send to Husqvarna Viking (SVP) Service Technical Department for repair. A list of authorized Husqvarna Viking dealers can be found at the Husqvarna Viking website -

Good luck.

My Viking 980 sewing machine does not catch far right stitchs. I would like to fix it myself. I have been advised it is likely a timing or needle position problem.

It could still be either problem. Lowering the needle is kind of like curing a cough by not breathing. You still don't know if you have bronchitis or emphysema, but you will stop coughing.

Is the needle centered in the plate side to side?
Does your zigzag have equal clearance on either side in the plate?

Check timing by lowering needle bar to lowest position and then raise it 2.5mm, push the hook back into the driver and the tip of the hook should center on the needle. (raising the bar 2.5mm is easily done with a setting gauge available to authorized technicians)

If timing is correct, set the needle bar height by loosening the screw in the cross head and adjust the bar up or down so that the hook crosses above the eye of the needle while in the far right needle position.

Adjusting the bar height will be the equivalent of lowering the needle but check the timing first. If it is off, the machine will sew but the stitch quality will be poor.

You really should try to find an authorized repair technician in your area. If you change the wrong thing you may make the problem worse and it will just cost that much more when you have someone fix it for you. Also, the tolerances are very close on these adjustments. You may thing that raising the needle about 2.5mm is close enough on the timing check. For that measurement, there is no tolerance. If you go to 2.4 or 2.6 your stitch quality will suffer.

Needle stuck in right position, will only sew tiny, tiny stitches

oil it. down the shaft if you can get to it. and where ever there is a hole it always helps.
