Question about Toshiba Satellite A100-S2311TD Notebook

Boot up problem continues

Still having trouble with the Toshiba Satellite A100-033 laptop boot up. Thanks vmhrera for your advice but none of it seemed to work. The bootup wizard just took me straight back to the problem - i.e. it tries to bootup for two seconds, turns off then tries again for two seconds, turns off, etc, etc, etc. If you have, or anybody else has any further ideas I'd be grateful. Cheers!

Looks like you will have to replace RAM modules.

It sounds to me that the MBR (Master Boot Record) maybe corrupted. Sounds alot worse than it really is. If the laptop is failing to repair itself then you will have to find the original discs that came with the laptop that contain the original shipped OS files. If there were none when you purchased it, the pc would have prompted you to burn them upon the first boot up. You won't lose any of your data by utilizing these discs to repair the boot record.

How can i go in boot option

Normally when you power on your Toshiba Satellite laptop it attempts to boot the operating system installed on its hard drive.
In some instances you may want to boot the Satellite laptop from a different device, such as an operating system installation CD or a USB drive.
The boot order doesn't have to permanently be set to the hard drive.
It's possible to access the boot order before the operating system loads and change which device is set to boot first.

Turn off the Toshiba Satellite laptop.
Turn it back on immediately and wait for the "press the F2 key to enter Setup" entry to show up on the screen.
Press the "F2" key to access the Toshiba Satellite's BIOS menu.
Use the right arrow key to navigate to the BIOS tab labeled "Boot."

Scroll down to the option labeled "Boot Priority" and tap Enter.
Check through the list of devices and locate the specific device you want to use to Boot your Toshiba laptop, such as "CD-ROM," "USB" or "LAN."

Highlight the name of the device in the list and then tap Enter to make it the top boot priority.
Use the right arrow key again to scroll over to the "Exit" BIOS menu.

Tap the down arrow key to highlight the "Save and Exit" option.
Press Enter to save the new boot order and restart your Toshiba Satellite laptop.

Repeat the procedure when you want to change the boot order back to its original setting.

I have a Ntdetect Failed promt on toshiba p15-s479 laptop

LOL, sounds like you've got it trying to reboot from a Network or Lan first. Go back into the Bios and change the boot sequence to make the CD Drive your first boot option and the Hard Drive your second boot option.

You will want to boot from the CD to get the operating system installed. After it is installed be sure to remove the cd otherwise it will try to boot from it. Best option would be to go back into the bios and make the hard drive your first boot option after you get everything loaded.

You might be able to direct the system to boot from the cd as soon as you press the power button. Most systems will post an option to hit a certain key to get into the Bios or System Setup and a key to change the Boot order just for this one time.

My Toshiba boots but when loading windows, it restarts the boot process and continues in this process (loop).

When your computer boots up and you see the Toshiba flash screen, hit f8 and a black screen with multiple options will come up. use your arrows and go down to the option that says disable automatic restart on failure.. or something to that kind. You will recognize it when you see it, then you will be able to get into windows and trouble shoot further. Let me know if this helps

Hi,
You will need the recovery discs or the XP installation disc generally the recovery disc are delivered with the laptops if you do not got it then you have to buy it from Toshiba. Then you have to boot the laptop with that disc by pressing F2 at the Toshiba logo screen and selecting the cd/dvd drive as the boot device.

your motherboard's configurations is set to ask for password as soon as booting
try using the password Toshiba ( with capital T ) or toshiba ( small t ) .. normally that's the backdoor password for Toshiba laptops .. if either don't work .. try to hold the left Shift key as soon as you boot the pc .. this also can be a solution to bypass the password.. if none is working let me know :)
