Hi,
Make sure you are using only sonys compatible memory stick, May be the data on memory stick is corrupted, To fix this issue you need to format the memory stick. You can directly format memory stick through handy-cam.
If this does not work then service is required.
Note:- Formatting erase all data on the memory stick.

Thanks..!!

Well the short answer is to replace it.
However if you do not wish to do this, without proof, then first you could try a re-format, take the memory stick out of the camera, now using a PC,and an Adapter, Format the Memory Card FAT32. Then return it to your Camera, it may or may not ask you to format it again, however, if it doesn't ask, and you can format it, then do so. if not, then do not worry about it and attempt to store some data on it. If all goes well, it should work, try using it this maybe problem solved. However, if not, then you are going to have to replace it, you must do this to prove if it is the actual Memory Stick, or the Ca,era's electronic Interface to it, as that maybe faulty, instead of, or as well as, hopefully it will not come to that, and it will simply need a format or replacement.

WHAT memory stick do i use for a DCR-PC9E

You probably need the old-style memory sticks, as this is a fairly old camera, or an adapter. See this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_Stick
Adaptors are cheap : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Memory-Stick-Pro-Duo-Adapter-/251482939281?pt=UK_Photography_MemoryCardReaders_RL&hash=item3a8d8d1f91 is but one example, there are lots for sale out there or your sony shop may have one.
You may have to check to see if the camera is capable of reading and writing to a card of 4GB size, but as you have already bought it, it's worth a try.
Hope this helps.

My Sony Handycam DCR-PC9E mini DV Digital Camcorder is totally dead. Even powered the camcorder at Camera position and reset it according the operating manual. Yet there is no response at all . Is there...

This is a simple case of the Bat going dead, it does look from what I read that the Sony batteries do not seem to stand up long these days, I am hearing of this daily on the Mini Cameras, where my old faithful 8mm camera bat is 8 years old and as good as new.

Dcr-pc9e handy cam with no connectors

Hi,
To transfer video from your camcorder to your computer you will need a firewire cable (IEEE 1394). Only with this cable you will be able to transfer video.

Please note that you will also need a firewire port on your computer. if you don't have one then you can buy a firewire PCI card.

Please see the following link for more info and pictures.

Does any other Sony memory stick still work in your camcorder? If yes, means memory stick isn't match with this camcorder. Use Sony memory stick.
