I think that this is a ballast issue you are not suppose to hear any weird sounds coming from your TV set and if this ballast board is not working it will not be able to turn on the lamp this boards are not that expensive they range from $65.00dls to $90.00dls you need to take the ballast out and get the part number of the board to find the right one

Sony LCD Model KF-60WE610 lamp was replaced and then it shortly after stopped turning on. Blinks Green 6 times then Red 6 times Please help!

For Sony Model KF-60WE610, KF-50WE610, and KF-42WE610, the Diagnostic Code of power light indicator flashing 6 times green, then flashing 6 times red (6 red etc), means you need to replace part number A-1302-272A G1 BOARD, COMPLETE. See Sony Service Manual, 4. Chasis-1 at part Ref no. 103. The Power Board sits vertically in two slots on the left side of the electronics board. 4 wire connectors to remove when replacing. This component fits all 3 KF models listed above.

I have a sony KF-42WE610. When I go to power it

More than likely it is the G1 board or Thermal Fuse. I replace the thermal fuse and it is still giving me the 6 blinking red lights. Thermal fuse is $40 and cheapest G1 board I have found on-line is $120. I am about to pull the trigger on the G1 board and give it a shot.

AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF OPERATION ON MY SONY KF-42WE610TH LCD PROJECTION TV THE SCREEN GOES BLACK.THE SOUND COTINUES AS NORMAL.AFTER A COUPLE MINUTES IT COMES BACK ON THEN REPEATS UNTIL THE SET HAS RUN FOR...

First blush - the protective device called a "thermister" is heating up and "fusing". When the system cools down, the thermister releases the protection and allows the highvoltage transformer to provide power again.

Often times a device is drawing too much current - and the thermister shuts off the device to protect it - much like a fuse.

I have been able to maintain service on my TV by adding more cooling air to the existing fan. If your cooling fan is not turning fast enough - it can also cause the problem.

Sony kf-60we610 stand by blinks 5 times

Hey there,
I've had my Sony KF-50WE610 for approx. 4years now and have just experienced the prob you described (though I didn't think to count the number of red blinks). I called Sony TV technical support (888-772-7669, #3 for TV/digital cameras, #1 for TV, then #1 again I think). They said that if the power/standby light blinks 5x, that means there's something wrong with the lamp driver and service will be required. Needless to say, I better go home and count my red blinks! Good luck, I hope this helps a bit. Have a happy and safe holiday!

Sony KF-50WE610 flahing red light (6 blinks)

Jeff, did you look at the Sony web site? They had a problem with 9 different TV models that were from 2003 and 2004, KF-42WE610, KF-50WE610, KF-60WE610 and 6 other models.
This is what it states: It haas come to our attention that a limited number of Grand WEGA rear projection TV's may exhibit warping to the lamp access door. In rare cases, some additional components may also become damaged as a result. and so on........
You probably have some components melted on the inside around the lamp. I have a 42 inch and I just replaced the lamp at Christmas and the door was melted shut. This is the second lamp that I have replaced, the door was starting to melt the first time. They never sent me anything about this problem, and as of today I am still trying to work something out with them. The repair shop who has it told me that it can't be repaired. The parts that are melted are not in stock and they don't make them anymore. They are supposed to get back with me and make me some kind of offer.
They will only fix this problem through March 31, 2009.

Replace Lamp Flashing

Clean the cooling fans, specifically the lamp cooling fan located inside the rear cover, above the optical blocker. This is easily blocked with dust and causes overheating of lamps/shortened life.
