First I would check the cable from the ariel to the tv and all connections in between.

No picture only black screen, the sound is fine

I know it may seem simple but try just double checking all ports try pulling things like scart sockets or ariels out slowly as some may have a slightly loose connection (not a big problem but you may need to blue tack the scart in) once all out if no luck try pushing everything in again. more info could help me to give you a more detailed answer (like what you want a picture from e.g. Virgin box, DVD player or something else entirely. And how it is connected to your TV) You could try retuning the device if it's freeview or set top box (or such like) but I suggest giving me more info before retuning.

Actually you don't have to get other devices, Just cables, take the sky box output and connect to AV input of DVR

I cant get dvd recorder to record ext 2

Firstly, is the scart lead plugged in fully? Does it get the sound or nothing?
Is the recorder sitched to the correct input? It may be trying to pull a signal from the TV which may not be passing through the picture from the sky box.
Also, is the scart lead fully wired? Some only work one way so try spinning it round between the recorder and sky box.

Cant get a picture on tv using dvd but can get sound Samaung dvdR120

I assume you're using a Scart connection between the DVD & the TV. Try re-fitting the scart into both the DVD & TV, it is common for the scart cable to become slack & will give you this symptom.

No sound coming through system when tv on but works fine with dvd

you need to link the tv sound out to the aux/tv in on the dvd. Or if the scart connecters on the rear of the tv have a 2 way arrow, showing input and output on the one scart socket (usually scart 2) and the dvd supports scart sound in use that.
Then select the source on the dvd that coresponds to the conecter used.

Most likley your scart cable is the culprit, check whether the scart cable is the AV I/O type. And also better check the audio settings of the DVD player. Hope u hook up the speakers correctly. Cheers, Rifaa

Audio via hdmi

Have you tried to hook up your DVD player directly to the surround sound system? If you direct the sound through the TV, it has to pass several circuits and the quality will be lover. Just connect it right away to your sound system. :-)

No sound through TV

In case you connect the System to a TV set using the Scart Connector, only the video signal is terminated, Audio is actually not wired inside the SB100 Scart connector.
Sound will only be amplified through the system itself (through the satelites and Sub) it can not be utilized as a stand-alone DVD player.
So after connecting your surround speakers the problem will be solved
