Audio on home PC not working...

I have never had a problem in the past and just a week or so ago, my sound quit working. I went to troubleshoot and it says that there are no audio devices/speakers installed. I bought new speakers...did not work. I tracked down the name of my driver Realtek AC '97, I went to website and reinstalled...worked for about 30 min and quit again! HELP!?!?

it would seem that your audio card or audio processor chip has died. If this is a desktop (or tower) pc, you may have an audio card plugged into the motherboard (mainboard). This can be removed and replaced. If the audio plugs come directly out of the motherboard you should still have open slots on the motherboard where you can plug in a new replacement sound card. what you need to do is determine what type of slots you have open, they are most likely standard PCI slots. You would need to go to a computer store like Best Buy and ask them to point out a new audio card to install in your system it should come with a disc which includes the drivers needed and installation instructions.

Vista Home Prem. trouble with SoundMax Audio/Adi1986A620.6200

I lost my driver (after a chrash) for the soundcard. After searching desperately for hours through all kinds of sites, I did some thinking. I started up my desktop, went to Configurationscreen and chose Hardware and sounds. Within this section I went to Device control and selected: Adjust drivers. I put the motherboard CD in the PC and indicated in the wizzard "look in map BIN". It worked! I have now installed the driver: SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio, HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_1043818F&REV_1005
HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_11D4&DEV_1986&SUBSYS_1043818F
Hope it can help someone out there;

T2042 emachines audio problems

It's easy to fix this problem.

Stop using the audio chipset on the motherboard, and install a Sound Card.

They are economical, and will surpass the audio quality of that eMachines motherboard, by a mile.

The eMachines T2042 Desktop PC, uses one of these TriGem Imperial motherboards,

http://www.e4allupgraders.info/dir1/motherboards/socket478/imperial.shtml

Scrolling down you can see the audio is AC'97.
Not worth writing home to Mom about.

The Sound Card you obtain will go into one of those long white PCI slots.
(There are 3)

Any available PCI slot that is open, with no adapter card in it.

Here is but one example of a sound card that will work,

Some time ago, the sound quit working on our desktop. I have no idea when since only my daughter and wife use it. I have tried troubleshooting thru windows control panel with no use. also did a system...

I would start by downloading and reinstalling the sound card drivers under the "audio" section. They can be found HERE directly from dell. Just make sure to choose your correct operating system

NOTE: you are using a PC that is from 4 years ago. Any number of things could be wrong with the set, which includes the audio chip.

Now, did you install the appropriate audio driver? Assuming you bought this thing off fleabay, did the seller at least gave you the original system restoration disc? If he did, try the audio driver from the disc first.

Hello my acer e380 all of a sudden quit playing audio

There probably is a problem with your sound card. Go to Device Manager (start>programs>rightclick My Computer>hardware) and see if there is a yellow, red or black mark next to sound card. Click the "+" sign and click on update drivers...if that does not fix the problem then the sound card needs to be replaced..good luck. Let me know if you have any problems..

Check in the Bios to make sure the on board sound is enabled.
If it is you may need to reinstall the Audio drivers.
