Question about Canon Pixma MP500 All-In-One InkJet Printer

UO71 More than one ink tank of the follwoing color is installed/U140 The following ink tank cannot be recognized

Please help! Our MP830 was new about 4 months ago and we have now changed all the ink tanks at different stages as they ran out. We are using Canon refills but the yellow tank comes up with either the UO71 or the U140 message. It very occasionally works but these times are few and far between. Any ideas? Many thanks. I´ve got the same problem but with my black ink tank: UO71. Can you help me?

I have the same issue with my yellow ink tank, but we just changed all the ink cartridges a few weeks ago so I see no reason for the error message. Now it will only work on occasion after I've turned off and on the printer. We've never had any other problems since we got it last year. Someone help?

I have a Canon MultiPass 30 printer that is having the same problem with the black ink tank. The only way I can get it to work for a short time is to pull the entire ink tank holder cartridge out of the printer and clean off the board on the back where the ink comes out to hit the paper. I usually wipe it down with a kleenex. The problem is I have to reset all the vertical and horizontal offsets which wastes ink and paper and the error re-appears within a day, but it seems to work when in a pinch.

Had the same error after replacing my black ink om my MP830.(UO71) I Put some Methylated Spirits on a cotton tip and gently cleaned the cartridge chip (allow it to air dry). This fixed my problem!

You need to clean your waste ink i think. For troubleshooting purposes, please perform the following:
1. Open the printer and remove all ink tanks.
2. Insert a single ink tank in the printer then close the cover.
3. Confirm whether the printer recognizes the installed tank
properly. If it does, it will indicate it does not detect the other ink tanks, as
they are not currently installed in the printer.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 with another ink tank.
5. If the printer at any time indicates two of the same ink tanks are
installed, the cause will be the last tank installed. For example, if
you inserted an ink tank earlier, and you later inserted another ink
tank, and it said two of the same inks were installed, the cause of
the issue is the last ink tank.

Alarm: UO71 more that none ink tank...

That means that you either have a defective ink tank, or there are two of the same color installed, check the label for the inks, the one that flashes is the one with a problem.

Printing Cartridge error

Hi,

I've seen this problem before and it turned out to be a faulty chip on the cartridge as opposed to a problem with the printer. Canon should replace the cartridge free of charge if this happens.
