Boot up problem

Having trouble with my Toshiba Satellite A100-033 laptop. It refuses to boot up properly - or rather it tries to for two seconds, turns off then tries again for two seconds, turns off, etc, etc, etc. Any ideas?

Thanks for that but none of those seem to work. The recovery wizard just goes straight back to the problem. Any other ideas?

You need to press f9 while its loading then go to command prompt, you want to then type in command bootrec.exe
then bootrec/fixboot and ten bootrec/fixmbr ....sometimes its just bootup and other times it will be drivers or dhll files causeing your computer to not want to boot, if you have vista you can press the f9 at startup and go throught the recovery wizard there are plenty of options there, i tend to have the same problems, but sometimes if i have something hooked into my usb ports it causes the boot up problem, so i unhook everything and reboot and it works.
if you need any more information you can message me at vmhreha@aol.com i have a ton more options you can do if this one i just gave you doesnt work.

Go to boot and select the boot order.Use F4 or F5 to change.
First boot device: Cd/dvd drive
Second: the harddrive.
Leave the bios and save the settings.

Place your windows cd in the drive and reboot.
Now you can install windows again.

Good luck

I have a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7811 laptop that will not boot. It keeps going to a blue screen that says fatal error and before I can read it,it restarts. I dont have a recovery cd so I dowloaded 2 from...

See let me talk with you from experience...

The only thing that can be done is system restore to factory default and remember to backup your documents.

This is the only way to resolve the problem you are going through.

Cheers.

Hi i have a toshiba satellite laptop and im having some issues and need to format the hard drive how would i get windows of the hard drive because as you know they don't give you the cd

there area couple of ways that this can be done but before you do anything make sure that you have a windows installation cd, if you dont try and get one. one thing that could be done is you could format the drive in the recovery console using the fdisk command (must know how to operate a command prompt), or you could boot off of a windows installation disk and format that partition, and then follow the rest of the steps to reinstall windows. also if you need to get files off of the computer you can simply download a program called bart pe, it is a very small operating system that you put on a cd and boot off of. it gives you a GUI so you can backup all the files that you need without having to boot into windows and have trouble.

Powers on but won't boot

If you swap boards and the machine still won't boot, then your problem lies with either the hard drive or memory.
