I have a rowenta proffesional luxe iron but the cable keeps turning it off so when i move the cable it goes back on and when i am ironing it shuts off

you have a open circuit that occurs due to a wire loose at the plug end or a loose connection within the iron. a break in the cable will also display the systems you discribe. check for loose connections before you decide to replace the cable. by keeping the cable stationery when the iron is on at the plug end check wether it switches off when you move the cable near the plug end.if it switches off the loose wire is in the plug if it does not the try the moving the cable nearer the Iron end.

Cord is loose inside, strange screws prevent opening iron to tighten cords - B&D will not help if not under warranty

if the screws have a design on top , like 2 half pyramids, then they are dealer screws, so that the consumer cannot open the appliance.....if they are like introverted star shape, then these are called torx screws, can be removed by ordinary torx-bit screw driver, available at most hardware stores....

Plug heating up

Check the power on the label of the iron, usually 1kw or 1200W
Next open the plug, if it has a screw. The fuse inside the plug may be too low should be 13 Amps for an iron of 1KW

Check also whether there is a loose wire in the plug.

I had the same problem and eventually removed the tilt sensor. This is the molded board that you see when you open the back of the iron. By removing it, you will also loose the timer off function. The thermostat will still be operational.
