its not the speakers. it may be that your sound card driver is not installed so try downloading the drivers from the laptop support site and then try connecting your speakers.

If there is not a dedicated port for the sub, you are out of luck. Unless - the MLI sub can serve as the splitter

Distorted sound after installing software plus GigaPocket issues

Have you physically disabled the onboard sound in the BIOS? By doing this I think most of your other hardware/software would default to the only audio device (your SB).

Post back if you've already done this and I'll see what else I can dig up on your hardware and possible conflicts.

Pl check the whether all driver from OEM have been installed including MB and try to reinstall the driver it should work fine. or reinstall the SP2 for win XP. then install the OEM driver again, this should work, else there might be hardware problem.

first try using windows system restore, which makes windows appear like it did before your problem. do this sequence: start-all programs-accessories-system tools-system restore. run it and look for a calendar date before your problem. If you had system restore turned off, the solution may be long and painful and I simply do not have enough info to get you started in this case, other than to attempt a re-installation of windows XP.

Speakers are not being recognised

i would like to know if your on board soud or sound card is not being recognized by your system? as far as i know speaker will not work if your sound device driver is not installed. so maybe theres nothing wrong with your speakers. try to go to my computer properties go to system device hardware and see if there is an yellow exclamation in your sound device. if there is, update the driver using the provided cd from your motherboard, if its on board sound device. but if its a sound card, update the driver using the cd provided from your sound card. but if your sound device is ok and there no yellow exclamation, probably you hooked your speaker connector to the wrong jack. it should be the color green one. try and good luck
