Question about Toshiba SD-V392 DVD Player/VCR

2 Answers

My Toshiba RD-88DTKB has lost its channel settings and it will not let me retune them using any of the general settings/ channel tuning functions. Have checked all the connections which appear to be ok and it still plays DVD's etc. Is there anything I can do to sort this out?

    Thank you for your response.

Antenna is OK. Have tested with two different antenna - one internal and one external. Both work for TV but not for DVD.

Have also tried alternative paower source. No change.

Unable to download manual for RD-88DTKB.

There are only two possibilities, Hardware problem

or hardware settings ( Tuner )

It could also be from associated components on the

Circuits as well.

One has to check on it.

But it would be safer and cheaper

( repair of these kind is not cheap )

If you have a Set Top Box , then you can use the

Audio Video Out connect it on your Toshiba

DVD/VCR Combo Audio Video In

To watch or record the programs or channels

you wanted to see or view.

like these sample connector:

Use the corresponding Remote to change

Above is your user manual, below is your service and repair manual.
http://elektrotanya.com/toshiba_sd-v392_466_sm.pdf/download.html

You may find that your Tuner Module, or the Power supplies voltages to the tuner, has gone faulty, especially as the rest works, but the Tuning doesn't i have included your service manual for you to troubleshoot the issue.
Make sure that your antenna is A OK, before you look at the unit. Check, the Plug, the Coax, the Antenna, amplifier, as any of these not working will stop the signal.
Really you need to check the antenna with something else to see if it is OK, then go from there.
if you do not wish to DIY, then please contact a Toshiba local or head office, and ask them for a referral to an authorised service agent, then ask the agent for a "Quote" before allowing any repairs to proceed. This way you can decide to repair or replace.

My Toshiba is today showing the correct date, so yesterday's incorrect date must have been a glitch, perhaps in the original programming of the chip.

PASS WORD PROBLEM

It is possibly a setting somewhere set when you did the re-tune, causing all of the channels tuned to be protected. try looking through your TV's settings for something that might help. Otherwise, we could really use a brand/model # to help you out any more.

How to retrieve lost channels on digital tv

To restore missing channels, you need to retune your digital receiver (box or TV).

The retuning process runs a scan and finds all the available channels. Your box may have an Add New Channels option that you can use, but this may not pick up other changes such as channels being moved to a different multiplex or removed altogether.
How to retune
  1. Switch on your digital box and/or TV.
  2. Press Menu on the remote control.
  3. Select the Setup or Installation option.
  4. Select the 'First time installation' option (sometimes called 'Factory reset', 'Full retune' or 'Default settings').
  5. Press OK if your equipment asks if you want to delete all your channels. Don't worry, this is normal.
  6. If you are prompted for a code, try 0000 or 1234.
  7. Channels will be automatically installed. This may take a few minutes and your equipment may shut down and restart.
  8. After retuning, you will have to redo your Favourites list and other settings. If you retune a digital TV recorder, you also should reset future recordings.

Bbc1 bbc2 have been deleted after retune why

When TV channels are moved from one frequency to another frequency that was previously used by a different channel (sorry, but there's no simple way of saying that !) as has happened recently in th UK, some digital TVs and digiboxes struggle to sort the channel list out properly and channels can go missing as you describe.

If your equipment has the option to delete all currently stored channels (normally in the tuning menu options) then do so and then do a full re-tune.
Sometimes, this solves the problem as the equipment is no longer aware of any previous use of a frequency and just loads every channel it finds.

If this doesnt work, or your equipment doesnt have the option, then there is normally the option soemwhere in the menus to retore the item to "factory defaults/configuration". This will clear all previously stored channels and after a full re-tune your missing chanels should be there. However, any other configuration changes you previously made, e.g picture size, output type (RGB/NSCT/etc), etc will be lost and you'll need to set these again.

NB. some regions of the country have lost some channels temporarily now until after the switch over programme completes at the end of 2012. If you visit the Freeview website, this will tell you if your area is affected.

When turning on the Sony KV-28DX20u TV I find that all the program settings have been lost. Have retuned the set but after turning off and on again these settings are again not saved.

The retuning process is as follows:

  1. Press the [i+] button on the remote control to display the DIGITAL INFO menu.
  2. Press the BLUE button to display the MAIN MENU.
  3. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to highlight AUTO TUNING then press the OK button to display the AUTO TUNING MENU.
  4. Press the RED button to start the auto tuning process for all available digital channels.
  5. Wait for the process to complete.

If you wish to CANCEL the auto tuning process whilst it is processing then press the BLUE button at any time.

You may lose some channels when you retune the TV as the channels have been rearranged. To locate them look at the EPG although you may still find that some channels are no longer available on FREEVIEW. See the following link for additional information
