Question about LG WM2688H Front Load Washer
I hold the tub clean button down for 3 seconds but it doesn't activate. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks to a couple of previous responders, 6 months of frustration has now ended - I can now run the Tub Clean on my LG Steam Washer! I first want to say that it is important not to get excited and start pushing buttons randomly, as I think I had been doing for all these months when I couldn't get Tub Clean to work by pushing the button in for 3 seconds. Just do the following, which combines and expands on a couple of previous responses:
1. I had to deactivate the Spin Sense, and if your Spin Sense is ON, you will have to do this too. (It is ON if the spin speed light flashes while any of the wash cycles is in progress. If spin speed button does not flash while a wash cycle is in progress, the Spin Sense is already off.) So how to deactivate Spin Sense? Select Speed Wash, and start the cycle. Let it run for about 20 seconds and THEN push and HOLD IN in the Spin Sense option button for 3 seconds. The blinking spin speed button will stop blinking and you will then know that the Spin Sense is OFF.
2. Once Spin Sense is off: Start with your machine turned off. Then push the power button on and select the RINSE AND SPIN option button. Then START the Rinse and Spin cycle. Let it run for about 5 seconds and then PUSH IN AND HOLD THE TUB CLEAN OPTION BUTTON FOR 3 SECONDS. You will then see the little LED light panel show something that looks like tcl. And you are there! Just leave it alone .... the LED will change to one hour and 25 minutes. And it will clean your machine just great.
3. Don't forget to put your bleach in the detergent cup before you start all of this.
I want to thank the two responders above who gave me the essential features for this fix. I forgot to make a note of their names before I started this response, but you can see who they are. I am so excited. Now EVERYTHING works on my LG Steam Washing Machine. I love this machine. It is a miracle of cleaning, especially since I own 4 large breed dogs and am washing and sanitizing large hairy and smelly bedding each and every day. And I no longer have to iron anything - I just use the steam cycle to unwrinkle our clothes. Best washer I have ever owned (and I have owned another major brand of large capacity front loading washer before - no comparison).

A repairman stumbled onto this - to get the tubclean cycle to work. First select "rinse and spin," then press "tubclean" for 3-5 seconds. Too bad they couldn't just have put that in the manual!!!!
I'm so glad my washer isn't broken, I love it. I just wish the manual would have been updated for my model.

My machine is model # WM0642H (the front loader with the rear controls). I have had the same problem with Tub Clean and Spinsense. I've had the washer for one month, but never have been able to get the Tub Clean nor the Spinsense functions to work. With either button, when I press it for 2 seconds or so, it beeps twice and nothing happens.
Today, I tried pressing the Extra Rinse (Tub Clean) button and kept pressing it to see what would happen. After about 2 second, the two beeps sounded. Several moments after that, the PreWash option lit up and the digital display read "bcL" (only the circle part of the "b" was open like a "c") (at this point, I released the button). So I pressed the knob to start the cycle, and the "bcL" was replaced by "1:27", and the machine started doing something - the Tub Clean cycle I presume. No other cycle options were lit - just the Beeper sound level was lit.
I chatted live with someone on their website. All she could parrot back to me were the same instructions that are printed in the manual and that are on the website. The one extra bit of info she did give me was that the PreWash Cycle should be activated when you start Tub Clean. I told her about the "bcL" message, but she said she was unfamiliar with that message.
Still don't know about the Spinsense; I'm going to try holding that button for as long as I have to to see what happens.

Having had three frontloading washers and matching dryer units (Maytag Neptune, Kenmore Elite and LG Steam), I have run into what seems like every problem on the planet.
For Mmache, I would highly discourage you from buying a Kenmore - at least from the Elite series. I purchased a Kenmore Elite washer and dryer (like what you see on Extreme Makeover Home Edition) only to have it tearing holes in my clothes. Only after six service visits, numerous comments on behalf of the service repair man ("you are overloading it" and "you don't know how to run this maching") and threatening legal action did Sears finally declare our unit a lemon and allow us to select a different unit. It was at this point we got our LG steam washer and dryer unit.
I have been very pleased with my LG pair and have had no issues with it that weren't easily (i.e. NO repair man!) remedied. Knowing a few tricks like leaving the door open after the last load, turning off the Spinsense feature to make the Tub Clean feature work and periodically following the instructions in the booklet about emptying the drain pump filter have done the trick in keeping our laundry fresh and my husband's "I told you so" comments out of our life!

I was not able to activate spinsense or start the tub clean cycle. I called LG and they had me reset the washer. This is accomplished by first unplugging the washer then pressing and holding the power button for aprx 30-60 seconds before plugging it back in. After that I held down the button for tub clean and the prewash button lit up and the machine started the tub clean cycle which is aprx 1.5hrs long. I was told that the tube clean button would not actually light up for this cycle.

On our unit:
1. Turn on the washer.
2. Press the Spin+Rinse button once
3. Press and hold for at least 3 seconds the Tub Clean button
4. In the display the abbreviation for Tube Clean will be in the display.
4. Press and start the cycle.
Hope this helped, took me a while to figure it out.

I have the same problem. I've had three washers delivered with the same issue. In each instance the tub clean cycle is activated by me while the delivery crew is present. After a couple of washing cycles it then becomes impossible to activate it.
I've had Sears service out to verify the problem, but they have no solution. After the second washer was delivered, service did order a new control board. We gave up after waiting 6 weeks for the part and had them deliver another washer today. This new washer has the same problem. Also, I called LG direct and they claim they are unaware of this problem.
Sears did give us the option of selecting another brand and we are seriously thinking about switching to a Whirlpool or Kenmore.

My LG washer doesn't say to add bleach as far as I can tell, but when I press and hold the tub clean button for three seconds, the displays says "tubCL". Then I just add the bleach and press the start button.

I have not heard of this problem before, the only thing I can suggest is to follow the instructions set out by the manufacturer. Close the door, turn unit on, press and hold tub clean. Display should show display message to add bleach, press start and it should run. If it still doesn't work let me know and I will research it further.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You need to turn "off" the "spinsense" feature before you can successfully activate the 'tub clean' cycle.LG won't tell you this.Just make sure you turn it back "on" after you are done,as you probably turned it on for a good reason.
