Question about D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G520 802.11g/b (DWL-G520) Wireless Adapter

Open Question

Dwl-g520 PCI wireless card will not connect to the network. XP, have just installed SP3 and now can at least see the network in "available wireless networks". I've run ipconfig, but it says "media disconnected". The card was configured with wireless zero config which is on auto and running. I added a new key to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters. This was IRPStackSize and assigned a decimal of 15. This allowed me to see my workgroup. Increased to 30 but still can't connect. Running out of ideas! Thanks! john

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

you will need to add the wireless network manually. I believe the Operating system on the computer is XP. and the security on the wireless network is WEP. make sure that you are typing the correct network key.

Wireless adapter not found! Please insert the adapter now.

It wireless adapter could be faulty or the PCI slot in the computer is faulty.
Insert the D-Link into another PCI slot and also try installing the drivers again, the driver may be corrupted.
Try installing the D-Link in another computer, if it doesn't work then it is faulty and you need a replacement wireless adapter.

Sharing internet from dlink 510g to linksys wap54g AP

yes, the manufacturer doesn't really matter as long as they are 802.11g (usually backwards compatible with a and b) so as long as the router and the adapters are installed properly NO problem

I am not able to install driver for D-link wifi card

The card could be bad. I've found over the years that most of these desktop wireless cards work best when the software is installed before the card is installed. Meaning uninstall all the software. Turn off the machine. Remove the wireless card. Turn back on the machine. Install the software. Once installed, shut down the machine. Install the card. Turn back on the machine and lets Windows find the card and the software.

Windows XP SP3

Hello, Lore.
Did you mean DWL-6510 or DWL-G510?
I have some comments for the last one; if it is not your PCI-card, I hope the solution is alike, at least.
My PCI-card is G510 version C and I recently posted a comment on a certain Internet Forum. See what I wrote:

First of all: D-Link simply mistreated all the costumers who bought version Cx.
The best thing to do:
1- Get the latest drivers from Australia site - www.dlink.com.au - (look for SUPPORT and not "quick find").
2- Specially for Win XP-SP3, try the USA site; you will need to follow this path because the update file is very hidden on the site: click support / FAQ / search for "G510 SP3" and see the answer for the only question that is there (so far); download the newest driver for SP3; this driver has no installer; you will have to use it as an update if you have already a driver installed (click "properties" and "update driver" on the device located at control panel / system / hardware); if you have no driver already istalled, you will have to do the opposite of DLink directions: install phisically the card before installing driver, click start / control panel / system / hardware and search for a "?" sign, click on it and provide it the downloaded driver.

Good luck!!
