SOURCE: kenmore washer lid switch bypass failure.

HI. Check and see if you might have tripped the breaker. If there is a ground fault outlet close by. check that as well.
It sounds like you bypassed it properly. Try and reconnect the wires with the wire nut. Sometimes it doesn't connect properly.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

SOURCE: Maytag Washer lid switch

Ohm out the blue/ blk terminals on the sw (remove wire harnes first and notate wire color connection) with an ohmmeter-- Reading should be zero (closed lid position)
Then ohm the ylw and white sw terminals-- reading should be 0 as well.
If I am not mistaken this sw has a plunger that sticks out, if hte unit goes off balance this could push the plunger in. to reset- pull the plunger out

SOURCE: How to bypass a lid switch on a Kenmore 90 series washer?

I took a small screw driver and inserted it into the hole, pushing down gently, further then the little plastic arm on the lid could reach. It continued on with the cycle so I knew that was the problem. I took a plastic sheet rock anchor,(the kind that you drill a small hole in wall then slip it in, and when a screw is inserted it expands behind the sheet rock and will not pull out) and slipped it over the little plastic arm on the lid (it pushed the switch a little further in, which enabled me to use until I could replace. The I went to youtube and they have lots of video's on how to take the cover off and fix.

A lid switch can be bad and click but still not work. The only way to be sure is to bypass it but Frigidaire uses a double action switch sometimes that makes it more difficult.

Washer will not drain or turn on

You have a bad lid switch. It is usually just 2 wires which you can cut and splice together to bypass the switch. The motor on those runs the motor which spins the tub and pumps the water out, the lid switch is there to interrupt the motor if lid is opened. Now some of these models have a door lock incorporated into the switch as well. if that is the case here then you need to replace the whole switch/lock assembly.

I have a old Frigidaire stackable. My lid switch is bad. I can bypass it, but i was told the motor would burn out if left in the bypass position. I was told the manufacture doesn't make a switch f

if you can find any lid switch that will fit, use it, just make sure that the wires are the same size and you'll be fine. the switch only interrupts a sigle line to break the circuit when the lid is open. just like the light switch in your wall. So again if it fits and the wires are the right size do it. What is the model number of this washer?

Whirlpool washer doesn't spin or empty. Could the lid switch cause both issues

Yes , you have a bad lid switch . You can bypass the lid switch , which will cause the washer to spin and drain with the lid open ( after you raise the console ) , but if you have kids in the house , it would not be adviseable to bypass .
