Answer is 39 over 23......or 1 and 16/23. Check your settings on the calculator. People are running into this problem with decimals and there is an easy fix.

Let's say you have a repeating decimal such as .16666.....If you type in .166 or .1666 or .16666 and check as fraction it will NOT work. Reason why is you haven't typed enough of the "repeating" numbers for the calculator to understand that it is in fact "repeating." If you have a single number ie. 1-9 you must type in a minimum of 11 of that number. Then it WILL work as fraction.

Let's say you have a 2-digit number such as 13. Then you need to type in at least 6 of that number. Say you want to convert 1.2181818 where 18 keeps "repeating." Well I only typed it in 3 times. It won't work to convert. But type in that repeating number 6 times and it will.

Again calculator need to know that it is in fact repeating. Only typing it in a couple times could still change the outcome so it will basically fail to show the fraction until it knows for sure.

### How do you convert decimal complex numbers in TI-84 (OS 2.53) to fractions?

I answered a similar question not long ago and here is what I wrote:

Not quite true for OS 2.56 MP for the TINspire with Ti84 keyboard. To convert a complex decimal value, that you just calculated, into a fraction use the command Math [1:>Frac] and it will convert the value to complex fractions
See below.

I suggest you upgrade the OS to version 2.55 MP.

### My TI 84 won't convert my imaginary numbers to fractions. I typed in 1/(1+i) and it won't convert the answer to fraction form. It keeps saying Error Data Type

The TI-84 works with real fractions. It will not convert complex numbers to fractions.

You can convert the real and imaginary components to fractions separately. For your example, 1/(1+i) is .5-.5i. Converting .5 and -.5 to fractions, you get 1/2 + (1/2)i.

### Hello where is the fraction button on the ti-84 plus silver edition

There isn't one. If you want to convert a value from decimal to fraction, use the >Frac function (press MATH 1). If you want to enter a fraction, simply enter the numerator, divide, then the denominator.

For example, to calculate 1/4 + 1/3, press
( 1 / 4 ) + ( 1 / 3 ) MATH 1 ENTER
and you'll see 7/12.

### Hey , how can i do percentage and fractions on the ti 84 plus silver edition ? Thxxx :D

There is no key nor command to calculate percentages. But that is easy to correct.

Percentages
To go from a decimal result to a percentage, move the decimal mark 2 places to the right. If you have no decimal mark as with integers, put a decimal mark at the end of the number pad it with zeros, then move the decimal mark 2 places to the right.
Ex: 0.73 in % gives 73.0%
Ex: 2.33 in % gives 233.00 %
Ex: 5 in % 5=5.00 becomes 500%

Fractions
The calculators has a command to convert a decimal number to a fraction. The command is called >Frac or To frac. You find it under the MATH key.

Enter a number (decimal or fraction)
Press [MATH][1:>Frac]
Command echoes on main screen after the number you entered.
Press [ENTER] the result is displayed as a fraction.
1. If the number entered or stored in answer memory is a decimal number it will be converted to a fraction.
2. If the number you entered is a fraction, the result will be displayed as a fraction but REDUCED to its simplest terms.
3. For example 6/9 becomes 2/3
OS version 2.53MP

The TI 84PLUS and TI84PLUS Silver edition OS has seen a major upgrade to version 2.53 M(ath)P(rint). If you play a lot with fractions this new OS will allow you to do a lot more than what is described above.

Here is the link to download the new OS version. It cannot be transferred to a TI83PLUS or TI83PLUS SE.

### Can you find the FRAC key on my TI-84 Plus calculator?

It's not a key, it's in the MATH menu and it requires two keystrokes. Press MATH then 1 to select the ->Frac command.

### On other models of texas instrument calculators they have a button to do a fraction does the ti-84 plus have that?

Hello,
Yes it can do fractions although it does not have a specific key.
If you want to enter a fraction and keep it in fraction form, though reduced to its simplest expression use [MATH][1:->Frac] [ENTER]
Exemple:
27/48 [MATH][1:->Frac][ENTER] displays the reduced form 9/16.
To convert a decimal number into a fraction (with the inherent loss of precision) press [MAT][1:->Frac][ENTER]
Use [MAT][2:->Dec] to convert to decimal, but this is done by default.
Hope it helps.

The TI 83, 84 series can not set up the answers as fraction. What you have to do to get fraction answer is to go to math,1. the very first selection which is ->frac. What will change your answers into fractions

### How do I on a TI-84 Plus Simplify Fractions

Enter the fraction for example: enter 8/12.
Then click Math (which is located under the Alpha button).
Click the ->Frac button (the first one).
It should come up as Ans->Frac.
Click Enter.
It should now read 2/3 which is 8/12 reduced.
Note: I have a TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, and the TI-84 Plus might not have this function, but that is how I do it on my TI-84 Plus Silver Edition

### Fraction button directions

Yeah, there isn't a fraction button on an 84. You have to enter it manually as 4/9 or if simplifying a decimal, use the Ans>Frac under the MATH menu
