The only way to get it fixed is to have a garage door company come out and install a low head room track. The new track will allow you to install the opener once that is done.

Or you can try the link below.

The door company should only charge you 200.00 to install the new track.

Good Luck and please accept the answer

I have an 03 vw jetta 1.8 turbo. The timing belt has broken according to the mechanic. My question is this what is called a "contact motor" which requires a lot more work such as head work etc....

You have a contact or interference engine. This means that there is not enough room between the top of the piston when it is all the way up for the valves to be open. What happens is they get hit by the piston and they bend or break. You will have to take the head off and send it to an engine rebuilder. MAKE SURE they know Volkswagons or you will likely be taking the head off again and sending it back out. Normally valves and valve guides need to be replaced, you are looking at about $1200-$1500 for a proper job. Also you will need new head bolts, VW head bolts are not deisigned to be reusable. (Been there, done this).
You might be better off looking in a scrap yard for a replacement engine. , or a head.

My over the range microwave door will not open because it is hitting the cabinet....how cn I fox this? Don't want to get rid of the cabinet

The micowave will need to be relocated where there is more room, or the cabinet. The final option is working with a smaller microwave oven.

BOSTITCH 1664FN 16 Gauge is spitting out 2 nails, stuck together, at once. I cleared a Jam by opening the nose door. I thought there was a piece of metal strip in there. Now it's not there. Is this...

There is not enough room in the nose of the gun for two 16 gauge nails. Most likely 18 gauge nails are the problem (thinner). If nails are correct, tip of driver must be damaged allowing the driver to hit part of the next nail. The driver should be slightly tapered on the side that faces the rails so that the driver will hit first nail head and gently shove the rest of the nails back into the rails out of the way. I dont believe that you have any missing pieces. If nails are correct, remove head and pull out the driver and check for damage. Hold the tip of the driver against nail head, should be slightly thinner than head of nail.If the driver is not tapered slightly on the side that faces the nails, maybe you should sand it a little so the driver will not hit the second nail. Goodluck

I have a 1999 mercury cougar and the timing belt broke. does it have a non interuptable or an interuptable motor?

If you mean an interferancde engine then yes it is. This means that the pistons will come up far enough to hit a valve if it is open. Since your timing belt broke, it is probable that at least one valve may be damaged. If you have access to a "borescope" or some other type of inspection device, you can remove the spark plugs and look at the valves without removing the head. Otherwise I would suggest head removal for inspection of the valves and the pistons. I have seen pistons break instead of a valve bending, although a bent valve is much more common.

Is the belt or part of the opener hitting on the door as it trys to go down? Since if the door is down the opener goes all the way down, it seems that it might be hitting / binding on the door somewhere and then reverses.

No alarm on head lights

Here is a copy of a solution I offered to another person who had a similar problem with their head light alarm.
I cannot help you with the cruise control problem.

>>>I had a similar problem -- my interior lights would not come on when I opened my driver's door, plus I wouldn't get a warning if I left the key in the ignition or the headlights on.

There is a switch covered with rubber on the door post. I removed the switch, sprayed just a slight amount of contact cleaner, made sure the switch worked by grounding it to the frame and pressing the switch in & out a couple of times. Then I carefully replaced it.

I attributed the problem to my seat belt buckle hitting the switch as I closed the door without checking to see if the seat belt had retracted properly.

Hope this is of some help.<<<

Insuficient clearance for caset to install

There is a lock on the door mechanism. Unless the belts are good, the machine will not recycle to move the heads down far enough for the tape to be removed, so the door is interlocked to prevent damage.

Take the case off and push the door release and watch where the release lever hits a small nylon piece. You can pushit down with a pencil or screwdriver and the door will open. This white nylon piece will stay locked down if the blets are good and do not slip. They put the door latch in park allowing the tape to be inserted or removed.

Try to treat the belts with rejuvenator CaiKleen™ RBR Let them sit a while to get rejuvenated enough to not slip and the problem should be solved.

Counter depth refrigerator

Do you have room to pull the fridge out from the wall, maybe just a couple inches? Pulling it out from the wall should give you more door swing without hitting the counter.

Let me know if this works for you.

Thanks,
Bill
