Question about Watches

1 Answer

I have a Timex Ironman WR100m 30lap, Module#855. I am trying to replace the battery. The clip that holds the battery in is held in place by a single screw at one end (and a tab at the other end). For reasons unfathomable to me, this screw is carefully covered by a metal tab, preventing you from removing it. Does anyone have experience with replacing the battery on this style of timex?

Thanks for contacting FixYa. You don't need to remove the second screw. Loosen ONLY the first screw and move the bar. The other end should just push under the pin. If you are unsure, take to a local jeweler. Best regards. Jewel

If you read my original post it said "The clip..is held in place BY A SINGLE SCREW at one end (and a tab at the other end)" so your reply is completely wrong.

If you re-read the original post, it said "The clip... is held in place by a SINGLE SCREW at one end (and a tab at the other end)", so I'm afraid your comment is completely incorrect.

It turns out that the metal tab covering the screw is sufficiently flexible that it can be gently pushed back out of the way without stressing it.

Timex expedition wr100m alarm

TURNING OFF A TIMEX IRONMAN (the wr100m is the one I made this work on) ALARM: hold "set" to set each alarm to "on," not "hide." exit. flip through the modes until each alarm shows. don't hit "set," hit "start" or "stop." it should then switch from showing as daily or whatever to showing as OFF! good luck. so, UNHIDE, SHOW ALARM, DON'T SET, STOP -> OFF.

How do you replace the battery in a ironman triathlon sleek digital watch

Thank you for contacting FIxYa.
Turn your Timex Ironman face down and remove the four screws holding the back cover in place.
  • Remove the back case cover by gently prying it up with your screwdriver. Be careful to avoid disrupting any electrical contacts with the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the interior sticker that covers the battery by lifting it up with the tip of your screwdriver. It should come off relatively easily. At this point the small circular battery should be visible in the compartment.
  • Lift up the small metal clip (battery strap) that covers the battery using the tip of your screwdriver.
  • Remove the battery from its housing and replace it with your new battery (available at any electronics store or online). Reassemble the watch in the same way you to took it apart.

How do you unlatch the battery of a timex ironman watch. I have the back open now

You will need to look for any screws holding down a plate over the battery. Sometimes these only need to be loosened and sometimes they have to be removed. Sometimes the plate can be lifter slightly and the battery slide out from underneath. I hope this helps you. Best luck

After replacing a battery in a timex ironman with data link, they tell you to short the ac pad and the vss pad. Were are those points located?

You will find them on the module itself.
So after replacing the battery look on the PCB (printed circuit board) for the letters"AC" and "VSS". Adjacent to these markings there should be little contact points (probably gold or silver looking in colour)
Use a paper clip or similar and bridge (short) these two points simultaneously. Please rate my solution.

I have a Timex Ironman Triathlon Speed + Distance...

The Timex Ironman manual and website says to take the watch to a repair facility. Nope! Do it yourself!

How to replace the battery in a Timex Ironman watch:

This is easier if you remove one of the rubbery wrist bands.

    1. Take note of the position of the metal back cover. You'll need to reinstall it exactly as you see it in order to hear the alarm.

    2. Remove the four screws that hold the metal back cover, and pry off the cover.

    3. There is a round metal clip that holds the battery in place, covered with a transparent plastic cover which likely says, "Unlatch to remove battery". Within the center of each clip, there's a small opening just large enough for a straight pin to be inserted. A jewelers screwdrive won't work - use a straight pin. Insert a straight pin into the tiny opening at the edge of the clip, and wiggle it. The clip should release. You'll only need to unlatch one side of the battery retaining ring.

    4. Gently pry up the batter retaining clip, then pry up the battery. Insert new battery.

    5. Replace the clip.

    6. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into a slot which has two "electrodes" or pins - they need to be shorted with the screwdriver to reset the watch. Just touch the screwdriver blade across the two pins to short it.

    7. Reinstall the back cover but be sure to position the cover so the alarm sounding place ( a small disc attached to the inside back cover) will reside over the sounding spring.

    8. Insert screws.
