Question about Computers & Internet
OK, don't worry, here is what to do, start up your PC,and pump the, F & 8 Keys, F8, this will bring up Safe Mode, now choose Standard VGA from the screen OR simply proceed through to Safe Boot, or Safe Mode with networking (Recommended) In any event, the main screen will now only display standard VGA which is 800x600, if still at 640x480, the you simply will have to persevere with that resolution, to do the tasks below, it will be hard but not impossible, remember, TAB, steps it, Enter is Yes, and ESC is No/Cancel. Standard VGA, .this is so almost any monitor will work. What has happened is your driver has faulted, this needs to be reinstalled or replaced.
Now if you can boot up in standard VGA or Safe Mode, then it maybe best to go to your video card manufacturers website and download the latest drivers and install them. Or if you know where the existing files are stored navigate there and run the installer again.
You can do that, or go to Device manager, and find your VGA Card and Click on Update drivers, this then should initiate a search for said drivers, and it should find the correct drivers for your system and install them, you may need to reboot a couple of times to get it OK, now, you may have to enable & set up multiple desktop again too to get the 2nd monitor to work.

Assuming you are running windows XP, you go to Control panel and select display -- settings -- advanced. Turn the 2nd monitor off so that the main display can return to its regular setting.
It will help if you provide the Monitor make and model for both.
