Question about Microsoft Xbox 360 Console
Hi, the first thing you should try is unplugging it all from the mains then remove all the wires from the xbox and the back of the telly, then plug them all back in.
doing this will remove any static that may have built up as this can cause you problems, now leave the xbox off for an hour to let it cool down fully then do the following.
1 make sure the air vents are free from dust vac them out if needed.
2 dont use your xbox whilst it is lying on carpet
3 dont use your xbox whilst its on top of anything else electrical as this will give off heat and cause it to over heat.
after you have done the above plug it all back in and switch it on, if you still have no sound or picture then the next thing you need to try is getting another video lead try and ask a friend if they can bring one round just for you to try yours with then if it works you need a new lead but if it dont work keep reading.
if you have got this far then i take it your xbox is still not working as it should do, now the reason you have got either no sound or no picture is due to it over heating, when they built these they used silly little x shaped clamps to hold the heat sink onto the gpu and cpu chip now these clamps are not secure and cause it to over heat.
check you have any warranty left on it before you get any work done.
if you have warranty left take it back and get an exchange or refund, if you have no warranty then the only option you have it to get the xclamps replaced and this may fix your xbox say out of every 10 i do only 1 wont work after it has had the clamps removed and more secure heat clamp fixing screws fitted it usually stops it over heating.
this is a big job to do and if you have never had a go at this sort of thing before then the chances are you will do more harm than good.
i charge 25 pound plus parts to fix these and the parts cost less than 5 pound so you need to find someone who is going to charge the same to fix the problem for you.
if you are going to do it your self then your going to need to get an xbox 360 repair guide and also the rrod repair kit and also some heat sink paste, its not easy to do and its a nightmare just taking the cases off let alone removing the heat sinks and old heat sink paste.
let me know if you need further assistance ok
plz rate this solution as i have a whole page of unrated posts, thanks
