Question about JVC Projection Televisions

1 Answer

My HDMI port on my JVC 48avp575 rear projection TV is not working.I've tried all menus using sleep timer instructions, etc. ... no luck. I can change to ng's to ok's, but as soon as a device is connected, they all go back to ng's. By the way, the JVC help line is terrible...absolutely no help...useless...helpless!!! Jvc have a little problem with there HDMI ports of by some how you run the set with the back off or get to much light in the back the HDMI locks up. So you have to reset the set, this isn't to hard, from the original remote have the two switches (if any) have these on TV and VCR or both to the left, next hit the Sleep Timer now before this disappears from the screen hit both Video Status and Display at the same time, this brings up a service menu, hit button 2 this is the self check, now turn off the set then unplug it for 30 second and the HDMI should work

Did you go to the input button on your remote and set the TV to HDMI port number you plugged into? They are numbered 1-4 etc depend on how many HDMI ports the TV has.

Hdmi isn't working on jvc 52z585 tried resetting it with remote it seems like its locking out other devices for like copy rights infringment

hi,
JCV 52Z585 has 1 port HDMI that support 480p
if your input higher your tv will not support.
There are 2 type of HDMI 480p signal, 640x480 and 720x480.
To seting input HDMI to JVC, you should seting input device to default resolution or 480 depend on device (DVD, PC, blueray etc).

My hdmi port in the back of the tv does not work..i have never used this before and we bought a ps3 when i hook it up all i get is a green screen but i know it is not my ps3 or cable because they both work...

1a) make sure the two slide switches on the top of your remote are set
to TV and VCR (both to the left).

1b) Press SLEEP TIMER and make sure it is set to "0" minutes. (Only on
screen for 2-3 seconds)

2) While "0 minutes" is being displayed on the screen, press DISPLAY and
VIDEO STATUS at the same time. This will pull up a service menu on
the screen.

3) Press the option # 2 (SELF CHECK) on the service menu

4) Turn the TV off and allow the set to run its normal cool down
process.

5) Turn the TV back on and set the TV back to DIGITAL IN mode by
pressing on the INPUT button.

Digital input not working and greyed out on the menu.

Most JVC TV's with HDMI and Digital Input have an optical sensor inside the case to sense if someone is trying to bypass the hardware encryption. My JVC was exposed to sunlight prolonged sunlight and triggered this optical sensor which disabled my HDMI ports. This may be the same situation for you.

JVC HDMI Port Fix

Turn the TV on, and enter the Service Menu. Select 2 for Self Check. Then turn the TV off, and after the fan turns off, unplug the power cord. Reconnect the power cord, turn the TV on, and the HDMI port is re-enabled.

Here's how to get to Service Menu:

Before entering the SERVICE MENU, confirm that the setting
of TV/CATV SW of the REMOTE CONTROL UNIT is at the
"TV" side and the setting of VCR/DVD SW of the REMOTE
CONTROL UNIT is at the "VCR" side. If the switches have not
been properly set, you cannot enter the SERVICE MENU.
1) Press [SLEEP TIMER] key and while the indication of
SLEEP TIMER 0 MIN is being displayed, press
[DISPLAY] key and [VIDEO STATUS] key (Fig.2)
simultaneously.
2) The SERVICE MENU screen of Fig.1 is displayed.
3) Verify what to set in the SERVICE MENU, and set
whatever is necessary (Fig.1).
Refer to the SERVICE ADJUSTMENT for setting.
4) Press the [BACK] key to return the SERVICE MENU.

Hdmi on jvc av56p575 any ideas

The first thing to do is try another HDMI source as the source you have now and the TV could possibly be incompatible. If still doesn't work with another device then try cleaning out the HDMI port on the TV because dust on the contacts can cause issues as well. If that all fails then the HDMI receiver on the main board is most likely bad. In that case it is much easier to use the component connections instead. Please take a moment to rate my answer, Thanks...

No owners manual can't get new blue ray dvd player to work on tv

Here is the manual:

When using the HDMI connections you may have to tell the DVD to output to that port.  Also you may have to connect additional sound cables from the DVD output to the TV.

HDMI dead

I hope you are aware that JVC booby-traped the DVI modue in this set to avoid
tampering. If you remove the back without taking precautions say bye to your digital
input. See:http://www.iwaynet.net/~nesda/Jan04/Jan0413.html

Steve
Yeah, I've read that. I haven't taken the back off, but I bought it
second-hand, so it could have been serviced in the past. However, there
is a way to reset the HDMI module from within the service menu (you do a
self-check, then turn off the tv from within the menu and unplug for 30
seconds, according to a few forums I've read). However, I don't know
how to get into this service menu.

Thats not what I was told by JVC, but if you think it will fix it give it a try;

SERVICE MENU setting
a) Press [SLEEP TIMER] key and, while the indication of
SLEEP TIMER 0 MIN is being displayed, press
[DISPLAY] key and [VIDEO STATUS] key on the
remote control unit (Fig.2) simultaneously.
b) The SERVICE MENU screen of Fig.1 is displayed.
c) Verify what to set in the SERVICE MENU, and set
whatever is necessary

Be very careful NOT to change any settings if you don't want to create a boat anchor. Quoted from a diff. thread from tech-archives.net

JVC HD-52G786 Service Mode

Sure. I'm not sure if you can do it without the original remote, though. On my remote, you need to have the tv turned on, then press the sleep timer, then press the display and video status buttons simultaneously. This enters the service mode. Then, you should see an option for self-check (#2 i think). Enter that, then you should see 2 vertical columns of different inputs. From that screen, power the tv off. This resets all the ports on the tv.

Blank screen on Digital In

Go into the service menu using the remote (hit the sleep timer, then video status and display at the same time), go into the status menu #2, then power off the tv. This will reset the HDMI port. If your sitll experiencing the issue, probably a dead board.
