I may of not made myself clear in explaining the problem. It has nothing to do with the timer I can turn the timer on no water will flow if load setting is on small if I turn the load setting to large it will flow imediately and keep flowing if I turn it back to small but it will not restart on the rinse cycle with the load setting in small but works fine if you leave it on large setting.

Hello. make these checks: Is there water getting to the machine? Is the water-volume selector switch set properly and are the control panel buttons pressed in all the way? Is there a faint buzzing or humming noise coming from the water-inlet valve? (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If you can't hear anything, the water-inlet valve may not be getting any power. If you can hear some noise and there's water present, you may need to completely replace the water-inlet valve.

The evidence is clear, the timer or the water inelt valve is working intermittently. Try to turn theknob back and forth to clean off possible dead spots on the timer. Check also the wire connections to the water valves and make sure the connections are good. The valves can be tested by usign a cheater cord to directly connect the valve solenoids to a 120VAC supply. If the valves work fine then the problem is definitely with the timer. Replace the water valve assembly if it doesn't work when connected directly to a 120VAC; otherwise, repalce the timer.

The water valves are therefore working fine if the machine works fine on large load setting all the way through the rinse cycle. And if the water valves are working, the timer contacts must have gone bad and preventing the water valves to actiate. There are no other components that control the operation of the water valves except the timer. The water valves are activated by the timer through switches and if the switch contacts have gone bad then the valves definitely cannot operate.

Remember that all component functions are controlled by the timer and the logic is if a function doesn't work but the component for that function works, then the one that controls that function must be the one that has problem. In this case, the water fill function seem not working on a certain point but the water valves which are responsible for that function are working fine. The water valves are controlled by the timer and nothing more. This simply tells you by logic that the timer is not working properly to control the water valves. It doen'st necessarily mean that since other functions are working fine therefore the timer is good.

Washing Machine wont recoginze the load amount to fill with water, ex..small, med, it justs keep filling up to the brim??

Sounds like your problem is one of three things. Most common is that you have to "reset" the water level. This is done by turning the water level knob passed the large load size, and then down to small. Any time you want to go to a smaller sized load, you have to do this. Another possibility is that the pressure switch is bad, this is an easy fix (although not as easy as the reset) The switch can be purchased thru a local parts supply house. And the last thing could be a bad water valve. This will leak and continue to fill the washer after it is already full, this however is usually followed with water all over the floor. If it is not the reset, write me back and I'll walk you thru the other repairs. Hope this helps!

When i turn on the washer the water never stops running and it is overflowing into my floor

Hi,

The usual culprit for a washer that will not stop filling is the pressure switch. The switch is located inside the operator console behind the load size, or water level knob (this knob has different names based on the washer model). Before assuming the pressure is defective, however, inspect the pressure switch and ensure the small plastic air hose is still attached to it. It is common for this small air hose to come loose or develop small cracks or breaks. Without the hose installed, the switch cannot detect the appropriate pressure in the wash tub and will not shut off. The result: as washer that continually fills and will overflow. What appears to be a significant problem may only be a loose hose and few minutes of your time. Please inspect the switch, check the entire length of the hose for cracks and make sure the electrical connection(s) are intact and not corroded, then get back to me. I hope this helps you.

PS Make sure you UNPLUG the washer before servicing!

Thanks.

Kenmore 80 Series - water wont fill to full load

remove edge decore trims from left and right side front of control panel8b608f8.jpg
remove phillips screws from bottom corners of contol panel
remove knob from water level selector
raise control panel ~1 inch then flip over backwords on pivots
depress lock tab on right/underside of water level control body where it touches metal mount plate
rotate water level control body 45deg anti clockwise
pull body off
top side of body next to knob shaft is 1/8 hex head bolt
turn clockwise to rais water level
anticlockwise to lower water level
machine can be operated with this part not fitted so can check level. fill, adjust screw, fill will start again, adjust screw, until water level is correct
reinstall in reverse order
Incidentally, the cause is a VERY small wire spring inside the control body that is not really up to the task, and stretches over years.
Its a common occurrence, and I make this repair, on callouts, no parts required, couple times a month you may have to flip the switch to reset to get the water to restart filling
