Can lifters be replaced

Oh yea, lifters can be replaced , best if you replace cam an lifters together ! Loud knocking is not usually associated with lifters , they usually make a ticking noise ! Knocking noise is most usually in the bottom of the motor , main or rod bearings . most of the time rod bearings !

How do you adjust or fix lifters on a 99 dodge grand caravan

Those lifters should be hydraulic self adjusting lifters. Have some one locate the exact location of the noise and go from there.

4.7 dodge durango extremly loud lifter noise with low power from engine. replaced all 8 lifters on driver side and spark plugs replaced. still loud noise and runs real rough. cant even drive it like it is....

1. You have to replace the lifters on both sides. Can't just do one.
2. Use a compression tester screwed in at #1 cyl. crank engine and adjust in and ext for #1 to get 120psi. Then on to the next. Note pull all plugs b4 you start

3. reinstall plugs now it will start and no lifter noise
4. you fuel is fine don't pull anymore wires.

1999 suburban lifer noise

if you have a stethascope or even a wood dowel i would check the lifters. if you have higher miles this sounds like a hydraulic lifter pumping up. if you change to a heavier oil it will go away or reduce. thats the cheap fix.

Loud engine knock

I love these cars and have owned a 92 model from 98-09. These cars are infamous for lifter ticking noise. (look up lifter tick on youtube for sound comparison). Although this is not a problem, it is a big nuisance can be fixed by changing the lifters from a 97-99 model. These cars with high mileage also seem to be prone to engine rod knock. 3000gt's timing belts start slipping a tooth or so and the rods start to bang since the timing is off. These engines are interference motors, therefore if the timing is off and you drive around with messed up timing, your internals are all interrupted.(must be rebuilt)
If it is LOUD, I would say it is a rod knock. The best thing to do is add a can of thick oil(forget the name) and don't beat on it. This will reduce the noise alot. If you want to FIX the problem, you will need to rebuild.

Loud lifter noise

Over time and miles the lifters tend to collapse and the only way to quiet the noise is to replace them or use something like lucas to try to keep the pressure up in the lifters. If you did replace the lifters it would help with performance because when the lifters start to collapse the valves do not open all of the way. Hope this helps!

06 A6 pet 2.0T very loud engine noise at bulk-head side of rocker

ur car uses hydrolic lifters instead of tappets but they sound the same when faulty. most likely a 'sticky' lifter. very expensive to change.

Just started getting a loud knocking noise comming from under my valve cover ...noise might be from push rods or lifters dont know is there something i can do to clean up the ports that feed oil to...

what I would try first is replace the oil pump. you say you're not getting oil to your lifters. no oil pressure is a sign of bad oil pump. I had a ford fairmont do the same thing, and once I replaced the oil pump; put a WIX oil filter on. and used a blended(syn and reg) oil, it fixed it. don't start anymore until you've done this.
