Question about Pioneer PRO-200 60" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Convergence Pioneer Elite Pro-118 60" Reference Projection Monitor Receiver convergence is off and can no longer be tuned properly, is this a lost cause. Per web searches it looks like if the convergence chips were replaced it might be all set. Everything else is in great shape on this set. Any suggestions for repair in the Foxboro, MA area?

SOURCE: Blue convergence on Pioneer SD-532HD5

The converence IC's are the problem. Unfortunaely, I do not a service manual for that unit. You will find the IC's mounted on a large heat sink. The nuers usually start with STK-xxxx. Find these IC's and copy the number off them. Usually the can be replaced by generics. You can order them directly from Mat Electronics 1-800-628-1118. Be extremely careful when you desolder these ICS the foils are easy to lift. Use desoldering braid(chemtronics) 10-25L. Also ask for BOB and tell him that Tom from TOM's Tv suggested him. This will insure you the lowest price. Also some times the current limiting resistors open up. Always replace both convergence ICS. In your case only one is bad. Replace both anyway. (they only cost about $12.00 @ Any further questions, contact me. These are great TV's and well worth repairing!!! Scrivitron

SOURCE: convergence problem hd61w66 problem #2

there are 3 small brown rectangular fuses by the flyback ...the fuse in question is the middle one...it has to be unsoldered from the board and is somewhat blocked by the plastic...the fuse has to be ordered from an electronics outlet like andrews electronics in calif. 18002890300....be sure to resolder all connections to the flyback which are kinda in a semi oval shape.

Hello how do i set the convergence manualy on a pioneer elite pro-710hd projection tv i dont have the remote and dont know how to bring the menue up on the tv

You MUST have the remote to perform service operations on the Elites. Look on ebay or do a google search for Pioneer 710 remote.
There is no way to manually do convergence without a remote, and no way to call up the convergence menu.

The convergence chip is going in my pioneee elite

Yes there are two ICs in your model they are around 20.00 each for quality ICs. Cheaper ICs are available but I wouldnt recommend them as theyre most likely the inferior chineese made ICs and they fail quickly.

no reset sequence. usually when the protection kicks in without any warning, it's the convergence ICs needing replacement.

Is this Pioneer Elite Pro 118 worth fixing?

You most likely have cold solder connections on the convergence IC's or on the B+ sources for the convergence. The longer you wait to have this simple repair done, the worse this will get and cost you double or maybe even triple of what it will cost now. Good Luck

Convergence Problem Pioneer Elite 60"

It sounds like the convergence IC's are bad unless someone has got inside the set and tampered with some adjustments or the set has had a recent rough move. Other possibilities would include defective capacitors/resistors or connections in the convergence circuits or power supply area.
