    Hi,
I tried to browse through different websites on how to 'fix' this problem with my nespresso machine and couldn't find the solution. My milk frother doesn't seem to be working properly as it only heats the milk, but does not seem to spin/froth it. I filled the bottom as accoridng to the mark or lower, and tried changing the 2 attachments and it still doesn't froth, just only heat the milk. Hope you can help with this. Thanks.!

My machine is 3 months old. Same problem. Seems there is no way to fix it? All parts are clean, spinning etc. Ive used this same milk before and it worked fine.

If it does not work after _thoroughly_ drying it out, then the circuit board went bad from turning it on while it was still wet.

My milk is no longer foaming! what gives?

Use fresh milk - skim or 1% actually works better than whole milk.

If that doesn't work, then your temperature is not getting high enough.

DeLonghi Perfecta ESAM5500 when trying to make a cappucino it wont **** up the milk any ideas thanks

Had this exact problem a few times on a cleaned well maintained milk jug top with an ESAM5500M. Delonghi 'repaired' it by sending a new milk jug frothing top.

It's caused by milk fat deposits, the frother part on the milk jug may look clean but deep inside it's not. I clean mine with pipe cleaners, detergent and hot water and still it wouldn't froth.

The problem re-occurs for me every 6 months or so. You could buy the milk fat remover solution to clean it. Personally I just boil the whole milk jug frother in detergent and the again in descaling solution, that's fixed this problem twice now, although I think it will eventually corrode the 'o' rings on the frother, still cheaper than buying a new frother part each time though.

If it still doesn't work after that, the only other reason for this problem I found mention of was caused by a broken rubber seal where the milk jug fits to the machine. It's most likely to be milk fat deposits inside the frother though.

Our PrimaDonna coffee machine doesnt appear to be takeing in any milk from the jug to make latte's or cappuciono's, is there any way of sorting this out ?

Most common cause of this problem is a blockage in the milk jug. First thing you should try is soaking the complete jug top in a quality milk line cleaner (available from specialist coffee machine retailers) for at least an hour and then rinse thoroughly. Then try running a fresh cleaning solution through the jug instaed of milk. Good luck and post again if this doesnt work.

It froth's milk beautifully but won't do soy milk.

We bought a Nespresso Milk Frother in 2010 for $100. The frother is the same one that comes with the Citiz machine but is a stand alone model. It froths soy milk very well. The less soy you put in it, the more froth you get but even if we fill it to the max line we still get a reasonable amount of foam. We use Silk brand soy milk. I have no idea if foaming is impacted by atmospheric pressure but it may be a factor to consider if you are using all the same factors as us but not getting great results. We live at a higher elevation Calgary, Canada in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Milk not frothing

It depends on the milk you use. I have this problem with certain brands of milk but with others, it froths very fluffy. I actually went as far as checking with a dairy and I was told it has something to do with the cow's performance on a particular day (slightly strange!) and the proportion of water mixed with full milk to make the semi-skimmed. For some bizarre reason, the supermarket own-brands milk work much better than the branded ones. I doubt there's anything wrong with your frother, just try a few different brands of milk until you find the right one!

Aeroccino deosn't make froth

Our aeroccino worked fine for 2 years and suddenly it didn't made foam anymore. We tried the "inverting trick" without much success. We contacted Nespresso and they suggested switching from regular fresh milk (we used 2%) to UHT milk (harder to find in US) and to use it cold and freshly opened. So we tried that and it works.
Hope this solution works for you too

Steam wand used to make great foam until just a week ago

The stainless steel cover has a very small hole near the top. The hole allows a venturi action - meaning air molecules are entrained with the steam flow to increase the affect. Milk will clog the hole, but warm water and a guitar string, cheese wire, even a staple - something thin - will work to clean it out.
After frothing either clean the entire stainless steel piece or at least occlude the end at the same time as shooting through some steam. I usually use a kitchen sponge with the abrasive pad attached. The pad helps insulate the heat and provides the necessary resistance to force any milk out the small hole.
Yes, I hate living with this also. In fact I am considering machining a different steam tube assembly.
