You need to make sure you reset the lamp use hours, vertical lines are an odd problem for a lamp replacement issue, as normally the lamp becoming faulty will result in no picture, as the lamp is the main light for the 'projected picture'.
You can obtain the lamp reset guide from the TV's manufacturer or the closest authorised repair agent and they will be able to obtain the information that you need. I hope this helps. Good luck.

I think better to replace the set as all this sounds like a light engine failing.

Red line across the top of the screen. bulb was just replaced

HELLO,

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID RED LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

I HOPE THIS WILL HELP OUT IN RECTIFYING THE FAULT AND DO TAKE CARE IN SOLVING THE PROBLEM , BECAUSE THE TELEVISION CONTAINS HIGH VOLTAGE....

No picture but sound, a few color vertical lines

there is a few things this could be - the 'vertical' of the television went out, the CCFL bulbs are on their way out/burnt out, or the inverter powering the bulbs went out. If you can hold a flashlight to the screen and see picture, it is either the inverter or the lamps - if not, then it's the vertical, and it's easier to just replace

Vertical lines

do you have a cordless phone placed nearby?
i just had that problem, and realised it was because of the phone's frequency (scary!). i move the phone/base away from the tv, and it's fine now.

Panasonic PT-47X54J Not working

I can't tell you how to fix this set, but I can tell you that its not a "lamp" issue as this doesn't have a lamp. Its a 3 picture tube projection TV. the three tubes are in a red green blue format, and average about $175 for each one, not including the labor to install them. your problem, may not be the tube, but just a power supply problem, but there is a chance it is.

RCA DLP/HDTV Vertical Lines

This is djb1 who commented above on the vertical lines that have gotten progessively worse. I may have found a potential solution. I unplugged the TV, took the back door off where you replace the lamp, took the lamp out, changed our vacuum from a vacuum to a powerful blower and blew ALL visable dust off anywhere that I could. I paid special attention to the heavy dust that was on the TV blower fan blades and around the mirror. I also held the blower on the outside of the TV on the vents around the lamp door.

After I plugged the TV back in, the lines have disappeared. We watched TV last night for about 2 more hours and the vertical lines never came back. So far this morning, the lines have not come back and it has been a couple hours as well.

It's worth a try. The free solution may be as simple as clearing out all dust. LET'S HOPE IT'S A PERMANENT SOLUTION!!
