Is there a fuse or circuit braker in a sunline SM-G31 grinder?

Hate to say it but I fear the windings have burnt and is in need of repair. Any burning smell or smell of heating is most of the time directly related to armature or burnt brushes. If this grinder suits your needs having it rewound would be profitable.

Buy the new brushes from the manufacturer. You already have the old ones out - put the new ones in the same way you took the old ones out.

My angle grinder has overheated and stoped. Will it go again when it cools

probably not, I would check the brushes and while the brushes are out look at the commutator thru the brush tubes, when it overheated did you smell something burning? if so you might have a electrical problem or did you hear something squealing then it might be bearings or gears. It depends on the situation but this tool doesn't have a thermal overload that will reset.

Makita ga9000 9 inch grinder just stoppe working no burn smell or noise could it be bushes or something more

First check to make sure the outlet you plugged into has power. (You may have tripped a
GFI elsewhere). The next possible problem is either buildup on the brushes and
commutator shaft or in the switch assembly itself. (I have this problem on one of my
grinders due to dust in the switch assembly).

Is a grinder worth repairing when you can smell the motor? what parts would you expect to have to replace?

If the only part that's causing the burning smell is the brushes, yes it's worth fixing.
If it's overheating because the bearings are bad, yes it's worth fixing.
If the armature and/or field is overheated and damaged then you're better off getting a new one.

Slow,smell burned

Sounds like your brushes are used up. Take the brush caps off on each side of the grinder handle, if the carbon is 1/8" long or shorter they have to be replaced. (Makita Part #191938-1) If you overworked the tool (put too much pressure on while grinding) it's possible the armature and/or field overheated and burned out. They are Makita Part #517301-4 and #521621-0 respectively. You need a growler to check these items to see if they're shorted out.

I have this grinder, when i plug it in and turn it on it starts smoking and has an electrical burning smell. Is this the brushes going out? and it doesnt seem like it is going full speed. Is there a fix...

Brushes usually won't start smoking on power up. Sounds like shorted windings. I would recommend a new unit rather than risking a fire. I would also recommend a professional brand if it is something you will be using a lot. In the long run it will save you money.

Just replaced the brushes in a Metabo WE14-150Quick Angle grinder

when you replaced the brushes did you notice the tool throwing sparks? Generally when I work on these after replacing the brushes I have to clean the commutator to seat the new set. You could also have other problems, e.g. bad brush holder (did you replace as assembly or just brush) Let me know what happened to the first set and if when you plug in and try it does it come up to full speed.
