Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

1 Answer

Menu lock I found a mitsubishi 40 inch, picture is good. Every time I go into menu options I get a message that the t.v. has been locked by time or channel. I am unable to make any adjustments without the password. Can I somehow override it or wipe it from memory? Any help I could get with this would be greatly appreciated.

Mitshubishi does have a solution for this, Through the years it has change and with out a model number giving out the secret code could make more trouble than what you have so we need a model number to go further

I have a philips magnavox ms2730 c tv 27 inch , my parental lock is enable but i didnt enable it and i cant get it turned off, i was hopping i couldnt find a default password .

I found this info at a tech website, but I haven't tried it myself (never have used parental lock on any set).

Philips sets use 0711 as the override code to defeat parent lock. You may need to enter the code twice if it says "invalid code" the first time.

Using the remote control:

Press the MENU key. Scroll up or down until you reach AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Enter code 0711. Enter it again if it says invalid code.

Once in the AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK menu:

Scroll to BLOCK. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to BLOCKING OPTIONS. Press the "right arrow" key. Scroll to MASTER DISABLE. Press the "right arrow" key. This should unlock the parental control.

Hope this works for you. Thanks for using Fixya!

Dont know what the model is but it is a 40 inch picture tube. Their is a big black box that is taking up almost all of the picture. can not watch tv with this there. how do you remove?

Your closed captioning has gotten turned on. You need to go to the menu settings and turn off the closed captioning. This setting is usually located under the "SET UP" or "SPECIAL" menu.

If you still have problems you can look on the back of the TV and there should be a sticker with model number and we can help you out further.

Good Luck...

V chip locked up and dont have the code

Bypassing the V-Chip Lock
After you set the lock, you need your passcode to view
a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel
the lock, or enter the V-Chip Lock menus.
If you forget your passcode, you can view the locked
TV without entering your passcode. This is done by
pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the TV
remote control at the same time, when your passcode
is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV.
When entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process
deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a
new passcode. Press HOME to exit the menu.
Bypassing Front Button Lock
If you have misplaced the remote control, you can
bypass the front button lock by pressing and holding
the MENU button on the front panel for more than 8
seconds.
IMPORTANT
Cut along the dotted line and file
bypass instructions in a safe place for
future reference.
IMPORTANT
changing or deleting your
you must use the remote
;ontrol included with this TV. You
use a Mitsubishi remote
_ontrol from another component

Mitsubishi Diamond Series CS-27609 problem...image looks "fisheye"

2 years later and I may have a solution for you

I has a similar problem and I didn't quite fix it but made it less noticeable.

Press menu and then the code 2-3-5-7, this enters a service menu. Press Audio/Video to go between the options to get to options 40-50 to adjust geometry. Be sure to write what setting there on before you change it (even if they're wrong) just in case.

Its just trial and error from there, and hope I can still help.

Unlock code

Bypassing the V-Chip Lock on most Mitsubishi sets: Mitsubishi sets use a four-digit passcode that is required to view a V-Chip locked program, view the locked TV, cancel the lock, or enter the V-Chip lock menus. If you don't have the passcode, it is easy to bypass. This is neccessary if you forgot the code, purchased the set used, or if you simply don't feel like searching through your files to find it. To bypass the V-chip: You can view the locked shows by pressing the number 9 and QV buttons on the remote at the same time, whenever your passcode is requested. This process temporarily unlocks the TV. To reset the code: When you use the button combination 9 and QV while entering the V-Chip Lock menu, this process deletes your old passcode and prompts you to enter a new passcode. Good Luck
