THERE ARE CERTAIN THINGS WHICH CAN CAUSE THAT

  1. is your O/S version up to date? There have been updates to the USB support in every version of Windows go to windows updates
  2. is your system BIOS is up to date. BIOS support is an important part of USB support, you can update depending on the manufacturer
  3. Make certain that your USB Hardware drivers are up to date.
  4. If you're using Windows XP run the system file checker to be sure that Windows is not damaged
  5. update spyware and virus scan
  6. make sure that'any software that came with the hard is up to date, and installed properly.
if do these i believe the problem will b solved but if it persist let me know

I have an acer aspire 5100 running windows 7 ultimate. working fine for about a year and then my usb devices won't get recognized. how do I re-install the usb drivers?

If you've recently installed updates, I would try rolling those back before uninstalling the USB devices in your device manager - but to do so, all you need to do is right click on 'Computer' in the start menu, and select 'Properties' from the menu that opens up. A new window will open up, and from there you select 'Device Manager' at the top right of the window. Once you've gotten into your device manager, expand the 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' in the list by clicking the arrow to the left of it. You'll see a list of the devices that control, and are attached to your USB ports. Right click on each of them, and select 'Uninstall', then select 'Ok' to complete the process. Once you've done this to all of them, to ensure that your system is going to refresh and reinstall the drivers, be sure that you are connected to the internet, then click the 'Actions' tab at the top of the device manager window, and select 'scan for hardware changes'.

My keyboard and my mouse for my Acer Aspire 8550 are unresponsive. I have tried rebooting the PC, but to no success. It is only a few months old. I can attached my PS2 USB Mouse to the PC, but nothing...

Hi, this might help you:

This is not so easy, and depends on how skilled you are in configuring pc's, but here i go:

go to Control panel> system>system properties> device manager

in this screen you can find information about stuff like what devices are recognized by your pc.

try and seek wether your ps2 devices are recognized an if so, if the system can control them to.

if not it might also be your usb ports or similar ports that aren't decently controled and por recognized by your pc, so make sure they work fien to by trying other devices on the same ports.

I hope this is useful, and greets.

Usb ports wont work

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, and Device Manager. Look for serial ports/USB ports. Verify installed and active. If not, go to Bios 'setup' at start-up and activate from there. Be sure to save and exit even if you change nothing--otherwise everything returns to default.

USB not working

If none of your USB ports work, there could be a problem with your USB controllers. Uninstall the USB controllers via Control Panel - System ... and reboot your laptop. They will reinstall upon bootup. Good luck.

USB ports wont recognize anything I plug in

Are you using XP? If so:
Here is what you can do to refresh the USB ports:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB device.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

All usb ports stoped working

.There are a lot of virus' that will disable your USB ports. You can change the settings in the registry to enable them again.

Open registry (START > RUN> type regedit) and navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet \Services\UsbStor

Now in the right pane, double-click Start and type 3 in the Value data box (Hexadecimal) and quite the registry editor.

Acer notebook usb not recognized

Sounds like a hardware issue. I would guess that there is a bad connection between the usb's and the motherboard. If you are comfortable dismanteling the laptop and re-soldering the usb's than give that a try, but I would recomend you give it to a pro.

Acer Aspire 5050-5430 USB ports stopped working

Hi,
I hope i can help resolve your problem for you.
this may be a problem relating to your system device driver files.
Try This:-
go to My Computer/Control Panel/System/Hardware/Device Manager. at the bottom of the page you will see USB.
If you have any yellow symbols ( exclamation Marks ) then the driver has been corrupted, or installed incorrectly.
if you have a system restore disk. this may solve the problem for you. or recovery cd.
If you require further assistance, please ask.

Acer Vista Lap Top Won't Recognize USB Flash Drives

If Acer screwed up fixing your problem the first time (and it's evident that they did) they are obligated to fix it a second time, and if they cant, they are obligated to replace your laptop.
