Already read the information I received for free somewhere else on the Internet. The drum is fine and moves freely all wires seem to be connected as well.

  • Kymburton88 Sep 14, 2010

Yes, the manual is available online. I read the exact same thing word for word. As I said the drum moves fine and all wires seem to be connected just fine. Nothing loose. Any other suggestions for the problem? It's not draining or spinning

Discovered feom the wire connection harness that it looks brownish on one part. Possibly burnt? Could this have some effect on the motor?

  • Kymburton88 Sep 14, 2010

So If the wire connection harness is burnt how could this have happened and what would I so to fix it?

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. There are many causes of Error E3 codes---

1. Spin drum stuck – Verify that the spinner moves freely to eliminate this cause.

2. Hall Sensor fails or is loose – When the Hall Sensor fails or becomes dislodged, the control doesn't recognize that the motor is spinning and shuts down. The result will likely be an “E3” code in the worst case or “Suds” if it is only getting a partial rpm reading. Check wire harness connector(s) to motor.

3. A poor connection – Check wire harness connector to motor. Unplug connector and pull on each wire. If a wire connector comes loose from the plug, bend locking tab up as illustrated.

NOTE: If a locking tab is not properly seated in the plug connector, the terminals will not fully engage as the connector is plugged into the Motor Terminal Block. Inspect the terminals on the motor side of the connector. Straighten any bent terminals if they exist. Recheck the harness side of the terminal block if any bent terminals are found. Bent terminals can indicate a problem with the locking tab inside the plug. Reconnect harness plug to Motor Terminal Block. Run washer through a quick service cycle (wash and spin) to check motor operation. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

Replace the wire harness and check the terminal block.

Got the E3 code, replaced the board. The new board won' even fire up. Thoughts?

Turn the machine off and then on. Enter the Service Mode by pressing the Chime and Exrta Rinse keys for 3 sec. Display the Diagnostic Codes by pressing the Rinse and Spin key. Clear the codes by pressing the Delay and Chime keys for 3 sec. Turn the machine off, unplug and plug in the power cord. This dumps the memory. Evidently, if it gets full, it causes problems with the programming and messes up the cycles.

At the middle of my load there was stop with code symbol E3

E3 is that the machine can't see that the motor is spinning. Could either be a loose connector at the motor or a loose hall-effect sensor. this might be a fairly easy fix for a repair tech,

Maytag neptune won;t rinse

Check latch mechanism for alignment. Often operation of machine loosens latch mechanism causing internal switch for "door open (or ajar)" preventing rinse or spin cycle. Opening and closing door presses latch mechanism closing internal switch allowing for continue processing to rinse or spin cycles.
