Access the manufacturer's web-site: http://www.intel.com and click on "support", and click on the model-number of your Intel motherboard, and click "download".

Sound does not work with windows 7

My guess would be that you need to install the sound drivers. If a CD was packaged with the motherboard, it's probably in there. Else, I could find the driver for you, but I wasn't able to locate the model of sound chip used in this motherboard. If you could post the number of audio channels the motherboard has, (or the number and colour of audio connections there are on the back of your PC) like 2 (stereo), 6 (surround) or 8, I could get you the drivers, or you could download them yourself at http://www.realtek-driver.com/index.php?id=abgrsx5dk4nr
Get the AC97 driver for the appropriate number of channels, install them, and you should be fine.

Loaded WindowsXP now I have no sound

there is the problem, i build computers and many new motherboards integrated sound chips will not work with XP. Typically the "azalia" sound chip only works with vista. Two ways round this are:
download windows xp service pack 1 from ms website and install it, then the sound chip will/may work. i have had some success with this. the other option which i tend to go for as it is easier quicker, cheaper, disable on board sound chip, plug in a pci slot fitting sound card, job done
